How Hype For Legion?

How Hype on a scale 1-5?

  • I could not be more hype right now!!!! 5/5

  • I'm stoked but I don't want to see another flop 4/5

  • It will be nice to leave WoD in the past 3/5

  • Ehhh who cares... 2/5

  • It's going to be just as lame as WoD 1/5

I'm quite stoked for Legion. They're implementing principles that I've always thought would be great additions, such as the direction away from gear being more important than skill.

I've been a lore nerd since I started this game and for my human pally with Shadowmourne, Sulfuras, Thunderfury, Invincible, Baron's Deathcharger etc to actually have THE ASHBRINGER... omg

But, given MOP which I was completely put off by, then the massive let down of WoD having 0 exciting content, I have not yet preordered legion as I hope to let Blizzard know that this isn't a xbone / ps4 title that they can just overhype for presales and make up for the lack of content with micro transactions and dlc... you need to deliver.

WoD was a MASSIVE launch with very negative reviews in terms of content. They need to know that they can't just hype up and not deliver and that this community values content. If more people were hesitant in preordering legion, they would get the message that holy f*ck we need to make sure this isn't like WoD... However, if their presales were close to WoD's or even higher, they'd know that they can overhype and under deliver and we'd still throw them money.

Yes I will be preordering Legion soon as it's already been months, but due to them introducing new items it's clear that others have shared opinions with me and held off which means that Blizzard is getting the message that we won't just continue to buy xpacs based on hype alone.

You vote with your dollar

Write that down.

I think activision blizzard intends to deliver on Legion, they have to or risk killing their game. If the way they are talking about E-Sports, and reshaping PvP has real meat to it, this could definitely be a turning point in WoW's History, Activision would be foolish to let a legendary game like this die and the current trend is clear. They need an ace, and I think they have it in E-Sports/Legion.

They obviously know that WoW won't die anytime soon, the game is probably more profitable than ever due to MTX.

While I don't like this fast-paced twink PvP more than the vanilla/TBC/WOTLK slow paced and BoA-free time, I still think WOD was decent for us twinks. I really hope they stop introducing BoA gear, otherwise there will be absolutely no diversity between twinks, because of the sheer ilevel on BoA gear, maybe a couple of items like Argas will still be good, because of the ilevel is higher.

I understand that skill is more important than gear, but at the same time, I liked the fact that gear was somewhat a showcase of dedication.

I'm 4/5 in terms of hype and I don't understand the flop part, because I don't think WOD was a flop, it brought a lot of people back which got reminded that WoW is WoW and left again. WoW will never have the most players in the world, because MMO's while still being somewhat popular, just isn't the main "attraction" in terms of online gameplay anymore.

A lot of players have a bad habit of focusing on the negatives of the current expansion, while focusing on the positives of past expansions.

Towards the end of an expansion and prior to a new expansion being released, players will start to proclaim that "the new expansion needs to be better than the current one or WoW will die". These same players will complain about how poor of a job Blizzard has done with the current expansion and preach about how much better the previous expansion(s) were.

The new expansion will come out and these players will initially find joy playing it. As time passes by and the newness of the expansion wears off, they will start to lose interest - understandably so. Around this time, overlooking the good times they had that expansion, these players will start to talk about the glory days of the previous expansion(s) (overlooking the bad times during those expansions of course) and preach about how much better they were than the current expansion. Once again towards the end of the current expansion and prior to a new expansion being released, these same players will proclaim that "the new expansion needs to be better than the current expansion or WoW will die". And once again, they will complain about how poor of a job Blizzard has done with the current expansion and preach about how much better the previous expansion(s) were.

This same trend continues every expansion. Players will claim that the current expansion has been a letdown, yet WoW will continue to do well (contrary to the popular belief it isn't and that it will "die") - given the age of the game and the ever increasing competition in the online gaming market.

I personally think Blizzard is doing a great job. Sure, they have made mistakes, but so has every other gaming company. We live and we learn.

I think we'll see a further decline in activity, because gearing your characters is a big part of low lvl for a lot of players.

I just don't see how low level will be remotely balanced on any level with a 3 minute cooldown pvp trinket either. Things like Blind having a 20 second cooldown, 8s duration as Combat Rogue will just be completely broken (if they wouldn't already be).

I'll probably still play from time to time, it depends.

Removing gears will bring more use then it is now when in many cases you got enchants doing shit for you.
As for trinket, imo, it doesnt matter if it 2 or 3 min cd. in most cases when you need the trinket - its already on cd.

In terms of coolness, rare gears will stay same.

Gearing a twink for pve is already boring af because ilvl>all. And now they're applying ilvl>all to pvp too.
It's great for endgame players - from the tiny bit of endgame I've played in WoD the pvp gear progression seems pointless and annoying. It'd be way better if you could instantly be competitive on a fresh dinged char.
But I've never ever thought that way about tinking. Exploring gearing options and getting your gear from different weird places is a decent part of my enjoyment from tinking. Making ilvl>all also eliminates the possibility of gearing in a different way than someone else, which is also a decent part of what I find enjoyable about tinking. So the standardized pvp gear - while being amazing and almost a required change for maxlevel pvp - is a negative for tinking in my eyes.

And yeah 3 min cd pvp trinket is retarded unless the game changes completely from what it is now.

From what I see in the current alpha I'm more excited about maxlevel legion than I am for tinking in legion. I'm hoping some pretty major changes are being made before release.

edit: hooooly shit this forum actually changes the word t.winking to tinkering automatically in your posts. Can we get over that already?

Should be a
0/5: I don't play endgame.

That said, since I play endgame occasionally, I give it a 4/5. As much as I love tinking, I would love to become an invested raider with content good enough to forge strong guilds. I just wish they would remove all LFG queueing systems for all levels, so players can explore the world and actually show up at the dungeon/raid. More submersive experience.

I cancelled my sub early last year, after about 5 years of end game. I used to thrive on end game arena and bg's, but WoD just felt, blahhh . I geared my main hunter for the 1st season of WoD and then quit. PvP just didn't feel the same, and with less cc, certain healer comps became too OP.
But just quietly, I do like the look of Legion PvP. I feel it may breathe some life back into PvP, especially the end game PvP talent calculator. That's what I like the look of. I wish it was available to some extent for the 20 - 29 bracket.
Also the Artifact Weapon seems like an interesting concept. I may re-sub at launch to see if it's as good as it currently appears to be.
It will also have some interesting changes to this 20 - 29 bracket, and I feel make it more competative and put starters and Vets on an equal playing field, with 29's only slightly ahead with the extra few abilities and 1 glyph (minor only in Legion I believe)
So to answer the original question, yeah I'm quite hyped for Legion.

WOW has been on a huge decline when it comes to the bottom line of activision-blizzard, despite what some see as massive hype for legion, WOW focused players generally aren't aware is ATVI's priority and projects

i see alot of positive, negative, basher threads/posts on various forums: next expac will save WOW, game losing subs, threats of quitting, claims of quitting, they will learn their lesson when they lose more money. etc.

if some did research outside gaming forums WOW has actually been less important for AVTI for awhile. too many think of only WOW and Blizzard, COD is their #1 cash making game, it netted 550 million in it's first 3 days of release. what WOD earned in it's first 2 month surge doesn't even come close.

on many ATVI stock status/reports by various sites, games predominantly mentioned are COD, D3, Skylanders, Destiny, and Hearthstone. after the last quarter report a financial site has a interesting side note in their ATVI overview.... Vivendi still owns 41 million shares of Actvision Blizzard which is still rather huge and may put them on the board in decision making. appears ATVI awhile back only bought back enough of their company shares to gain more control of their company, but with 41 mil shares, i bet Vivendi still has someone on the decision boards

AVTI stock nearly doubled in 2015 going up 94%, one of the top 10 companies of 2015. WOW's huge sub drop, no effect

Hearthstone is making blizz part of ATVI more money than WOW
Skylanders, game and toys are popular, they are looking at doing a cartoon or movie soon
WOW legion will get a short burst like WOD did, but imo numbers will severely decline farther
WOW movie i hope it is a success resulting in more players....but it may have no success like other video game movies
