Level 10s in the 10-19 PvP Bracket. Why the Hate?

who are you talking to though? I don't recall anyone saying 10s are "useless". The thread is asking why 10s are disliked by 19s. The reason given is they are irrefutably less useful than a 19 and so it's a selfish act to play as one. This is just exacerbated by the smug special snowflake attitude and constant need to reassure everyone that they are not completely useless... and in doing so they allow the point to sail right over their heads

When exactly did 10s dominate 19s? Because there were separate brackets for many years, and as of WoD, 10s are not good.
Half Brackets were implemented in Cata iirc, and yes, I've been Twinknig 10 for a VERY long time so I remember clearly when 19's were crying that 10's were destroying them in PvP. After the half bracket change, 14's were crying that 10's were destroying them. It's only been since WOD that 10's are no longer super human (in instanced PvP) and now 19's are crying that they aren't "good enough" to play with them. I actually can't remember a time when other Twinks weren't crying about 10's, either because we were too strong or now that we're not strong enough.

10s are a non issue, dont even give them attention they will go away

If this was directed to my post, the implicit meaning of all the trash talk going around 10s cast by 19s usually revolves around the idea of us (10s) being useless.

On the matter of the snowflake phenomenon, I would have to disagree (for myself, anyway) since the reason I play my 10 is not because I am seeking special attention, although I get it. I play my 10 because he is my favorite toon, and it just happens that BGing on him is tied to this negative form of attention.

I do agree with your perception of this attitude of wanting to feel unique and to stan out. I studied a lot about how the Millennial generation has been raised to think they are special and unique. Look at hipsters for example.

10s did a great job leveraging secondary stats to make a serious impact in battlegrounds, and 19s complained about it for reasons that ranged from tradition to balance (dismissing other serious tradition and balance issues). The same arguments later appeared in the 60-64, 70-74, and 80-84 brackets when brackets got split in half. Basically, these arguments stem from entitlement and lack of math on the part of some players who played at "accepted" character levels.

Now the tables have turned, and 10s who want to play in BGs for tradition's sake are prioritizing their own desires over that of the team, just like 19s (and others) did when they argued against overpowered 10s. Gear scaling in battlegrounds makes playing a character at any level below the max of a bracket, a choice that brings only downsides to the rest of the team, and I say that with a 10 of my own that I really enjoyed.

However, I don't know how much that argument matters in PuGs. If a well-skilled 10 can make a greater impact than half the 19s crawling around the battlefield, I'm not sure anyone has room to talk. Yes, statistically 10s are gimping themselves and their teams gear- and ability-wise. But anything goes in a PuG, and if a 10 still wants World PvP and PvE opportunities while dabbling in a BG every now and then, I have no room to argue that.

TL:DR version: 10s are by definition suboptimal in gear and abilities compared to 19s, so 10s will always take heat for bringing such a choice to battlegrounds. But in PuGs, I'm not convinced the impact of playing with or against a 10 is that big of a deal compared to all of the other issues that PuGs endure.

Also, every single person thinks their own Twink of w/e level is a "special snowflake" so that comment is moot and every single person that twinks is looking for attention in some fashion or another. That could be their specific Mog setup, how many Achievements they have at X Level, how many kills, how much Damage/Healing they did in some BG, etc.

Wow the almighty Sponsor has commented on my thread, one of the well known level 10 twinks! Funny enough I have a few friends on Battle Tag who know you, Zanasis, and Shifty/Scratches.

Oh boy quite the standing ovation! Dont make me blush!

You have good friends then ;) I am always pleased to meet new 10 twinks!

Welcome to Twinkinfo btw!

There is no challenge, no reward, no redemption. All they try to do is wait around Durotar for the offchance that some half-twink loses to them in a duel. If they were to open their eyes and have some self-reflection they would realize what a waste of time they are to everyone else.

nice i was wondering if 10s could keep up in the bracket i was planning on making one prob a druid or rogue

do druid get Boomkin at lvl 10?

We dont fail, we like the challenge :) I shouldnt be topping dmg as a 10 lock in theory right? And yes i went for efc the chances i could :p

yay.. pump dmg into a target while having no cc.... yup a 19 lock wouldnt have been preferabl at all.................... -.-

so you just hope that the last 9 ppl on ur team will do ur job for u and cc healers etc, while u play ur 10 caus #challenge .. it isnt a challeneg to play 10s, its a challenge for the rest of ur team to have a 10 on their team, a challenge that shouldnt be present imo

I find the argument "you're gimping your team as a 10" to be ironic because pre-WOD every single one of those 19's were complaining that 10's should'nt que because we (LvL 10's) would destroy the 19's. If you're good at your Class and good at PvP while having very good gear (for level 10) and can manage middle of the leaderboard in DPS (as example) then there's no **** reason you shouldn't be there, period. All the 19's crying about it can either deal with 10's queing or make premades of 19's only.

nope u go make ur 10 premades instead gg prob fixd

Don't let crybaby 19's change your mind, if you want to stay 10, then stay 10. There are a lot of bullies that play 19's, don't let them get you down. Be proud of what your 10 means to you.

sooo.. 1 person is trolling 9 ppl, and you call the 9 ppl bullies rofl, dat logic

end of discussion

I don't mind people playing 10's. I always love the dedication they put into their twinks. But if it comes to the gulch subject than they simply miss crucial spells which are needed to play the class right. They have no benefit in a team IN THIS PATCH.

as a ex-fp2. there is little reason to pvp as 10 in bgs other than to troll. as opposed to the 20s bracket, which depends on level 20 f2ps for pops, there is hardly any reason besides obstinate stubbornness to queue for 19s bracket bgs as a 10. if you really want to see what 10s pvp is like, set up some kind of wargame. otherwise you will be told to spec displacer beast.

Please stop linking SS's of your tens damage, no one is doubting this. What they're saying is it would be more as 19, and you have no utility. Your like a hunter pet set on aggressive...

As if high damage in a BG means you actually contributed to the goals of the BG.

What is the difference if he chooses to play a 10 or not and "gimps" his team. Most players "gimp" their team by /AFKing at the first sight of any sort of real "fight" or loss.
