TI Points Explanation

I tried this on a site that had 200,000 members and 2.5 million posts... It was a nightmare. Heavily abused. This site is much smaller, so it shouldn't be a problem.

The thing is atm, when you post something, that post will show 0 TI points. However, if you refresh the page you will see the correct amount.
It's an AJAX issue I believe.
Well it's a delicate balance. Any site owner wants more traffic and more activity - useful stats to present to potential clients that may be willing to advertise.

However Shane and his team are fairly hands on about curbing abuse... unless it's emotional abuse caused by Purse.

Overall I think it's a good idea /kudos.
There was MUCH like abuse when that system first came out, but once there was no longer a likes leaderboard it calmed down completely.

I don't think spending TI points should give donator status. This encourages not only spamming but also discourages actual donations or contributions because it basically means the board is run by quantity over quality.

Perhaps in order to reduce spamming for points you could set a max amount of TI Points that you can gain a day. The downside of this could be that if people make that cap that they feel less inclined to post or that people feel like they have to make their daily cap. But, tbh, if you post just for the points and you don't post after you made that cap if it were implemented, you shouldn't be on the forums in the first place. I also think the donator tag should be for people who actually donate. You could also give donators a certain amount of TI points for donating. But we'll have to see what happens, I'm looking forward to see what's what

Not sure if I'm only one whos noticed but you can also post then delete your own post and get the points for the deleted post.. Might wanna look into that or else people will just spam posts then delete them so it looks like they said nothing.

Edit: If any1 can answer why I can delete posts in the F2P regular threads but not in here or not in the guide section that'd be helpful... Jw

I agree 100%. This is a forum. Without threads there would be no posts, without posts there would be no site. With that being said I feel like there needs to be more incentive to create constructive posts and perhaps the site will return to a more focused state. As of right now the only reason why someone would create a constructive post is because they actually genuinely intend to help others. There are not enough people like that on this site as 90% of posts in 15-19 section for example are snide trolling posts that avoid breaking CoC. With the implementation of points now there will be huge waves of "donors" amongst those who truly wish for the best of the site, hence why we actually donated real money.

Just some food for thought. I'd say positive contributions should be valued and recognized more highly than contentless comments.

Yes. Would better to implant a new bar and colour then. Maybe:
Pink or Grey
No idea what it should be called though.

How about something along the lines of "If your post gets 5 likes, you get a TI point." That could somewhat stop people from randomly "spamming" useless posts as you'd actually have to put say something with quality to get a like.

I doubt people would group up and like each other's posts for something like this. Even then, you could easily identify that "These 5 people always like X's posts, even though the post didn't deserve it." The already existing Like limit would also stop spamming to a certain extent.

And Users should be allowed to buy perks with these points but the one's that Donators, Vet's, etc, have should remain exclusive. That way, Users will still donate, write guides, etc, and not just hope they get enough likes to earn a Point.

Just my 2c.

That's not true.. I see very helpful informative posts get 0 likes and stupid snide/smart remarks get 5+ likes all too often. People will like whatever they want and alot of people seem to like trolling/rudeness so basing points on likes is a bad idea imo.

I'd think maybe something like this might work. Person A spams the forum with pointless 1 word posts to get 40 points in a week. Person B sees that and reports it (should have some kind of new report feature available for spamming for points) then a mod takes a quick glance at person A's post history and if the mod sees alot of useless posts person A gets all their points taken for that week and person B gets 5 points for helping "clean" up useless posts for that week. Idk... Just something I thought of.

I raise suspicion in your perfidious plans to get TI points!

So as I understand this new coin and shop thing will just be here to increase traffic? I can't really see any points how this would make TI better, any care to explain how this will contribute next to making informative topics, helping others and giving answers?

i want at least 7000 points.

will there be Twinkinfo shirts being sold in the TI store
