Official Game of Thrones Thread - Books and Show

Can't wait until the 6th books now. Something I can't wait to see is Cersei and Jaime's storylines.

Towards the end of Storm of Swords I think it is or it might be near the start of Feast for Crows, Cersei is reminiscing about meeting a Maegi (Maggy the Frog) when she was younger who gave her a prophecy about a number of things... Robert fathering bastards, a younger queen taking her place but more specifically that she'd die at the hands of her "valonqar" or younger brother. You immediately assume this means Tyrion for obvious reasons as does Cersei but it's mentioned a time or 2 throughout the books that Jaime is actually the younger of the twins, which could mean...

Could end up being a final redeeming act of Jaime stopping his sister from some act of madness then taking his own life as well. So many possibilities!

Anyone else speculating the same?

I thought of the same, though it would be so out of character for him to pointlessly take his own life.

ya but it might give him some final meaning now that he isnt the swordsman he defined his whole life by. kingslayer and kinslayer, why not

i was just thinking last night of another bothersome thing from book to show. podrick. hes way too awkward in the show, rather than just quiet which is annoying. and the whole plot about him being so good in bed the hookers paid him is a bit strange too. at least hes actually old in the show but still odd and i think he should have been younger since he is a squire

c'mon fans....keep this alive, gotta be stuff to talk about until next book/season!

I tried watching the series and found it lacked so much after I've read the books. For those that have read up to current events, what do you think happened to a certain character up at the wall near the end of ADwD?

Jon Snow is not dead. This is another Martin attempt in pulling off a near death experience(similar to Brienne). It can be agreed upon that Jon Snow is the product of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen and that he is the true Azor Ahai , not Stannis Baratheon. This is why every time Melisandre looks into her flames she sees Jon. Jon would then be one of the three heads of the dragon mentioned throughout the book. We have still yet to uncover the third head as most people agree that the ''Aegon'' whom has come into Westeros is a fake(planned by Varys and Illyrio) and can also be deemed as a Blackfyre descendant. Since Jon Snow is then Azor Ahai, his main mission will be a war against the others.

aegon isnt a fake, blackfyres have just as strong, if not stronger, claim than the current targs and def stronger than the 5 previous kings jockying for power
also for all the fan speculation we wont know for sure if R+L=J for awhile. also overlooks his nonexistant targ traits. however even if martain makes it true, he will definitely kick some ass at the wall. its his duty to take care of the wall and defeat any enemies up there, he will give no shits about the south - just like his quasi mentor maester aemon.

Aegon Targaryen is alive.

John Snow is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark.

Bran Stark is a direct descendant of the Children of the Forest.

Jaime Lannister is the true Azor Ahai.

It's open to anyone in Northern/Republic of Ireland. Registered for season 3 and kind of forgot about it till they texted me

need moar arya

Jaime Lannister is the true Azor Ahai.

Jon is the man.

Look at the qualities:

You have to be reborn. Of course this is as simple as it sounds, you have to die and be brought back. I believe Melisandre will bring back Jon from the dead.

You have to be born amidst salt and smoke
''In the cold night air the wound was smoking''-last chapter from Jon
and the salt is referring to ''tears''=Bowen Marsh crying

Have to wield Lightbringer. Whilst Jon only has longclaw at the moment, he did have a dream earlier in the book about him wielding a flaming blade on top of the wall killing others.

Be in the blood line of Mad King Aerys. Most people can agree he is the product of Rhagaer and Lyanna, so yes.

fav: samwell

The primary book/series difference that really got to me was Drogo and Dany's rape scene after their marriage. I mean it was such a strange contrast? Was it just to exaggerate the initial weariness we're meant to have of him before the wedding, or to build up on the cliché unhappy arranged marriage trope before deconstructing it?
