50 Coins of Ancestry for F2P?

Imirak

Legend
I'm getting my flight paths in preparation for the lunar festival, and counted the following elders that are in classic zones:

21 - Elders of Kalimdor

17 - Elders of Eastern Kingdoms

3 - Elders of the Alliance

3 - Elders of the Horde

That's 44 coins towards the 50-coin achievement. I notice that there's 2 more in Uldum and 2 in Twilight Highlands.

Assuming that those do not require flying to reach, will any of the other Elders be reachable for straight F2P players, without flying or summons?

I am still not that familiar with the new Cataclysm zones, so I don't know which ones we can ride into.

There's no reason why 50 can't be done. There's also no reason why it can't be done 100% solo. I would suggest you get the FPs ahead of time though, or really should have them from previous exploration and world events. If it seems like too much trouble, then either don't worry about achievements or get people to help you.

Well, I just started this f2p account about 8 weeks ago and am now getting around to the high-level zone explorations. I think the only fps I need now are in Twilight Highlands. If it can be done solo, I'll be able to do it.

My main concern is being able to access enough Elders of the Cataclysm (need 6) to get the 50-coin achievement. Can we get to Hyjal without flying?

You do realise that I could edit it right now to say that you can get there from Winterspring, right? Either way, you can get there from Winterspring.

I should probably add that you need to die near the, now destroyed, bridge and then take res sickness. You're the one that wanted to do this solo, right? It's going to take you a really long time, but it's definitely doable.

Actually, I like the challenge of F2P so the difficulty is not really a problem for me. I'm just unfamiliar with the new zones since I haven't played since LK.

So, die at the destroyed bridge and rez at the Hyjal healer? Sounds pretty easy!

But how do I run my ghost back to Hyjal?

To get there alive required dying in Frostwhisper Gorge and spirit rezzing on the other side.. That's not really an option as a ghost.

edit: oh wait.... is this a situation when I run back to Winterspring as a ghost, get to Frostwhisper Gorge, and then logout/login to reset my spirt rez location? I was under the impression they fixed that. I'll try tomorrow morning and see

Ah, yeah, I forgot about the GY thing. I haven't done it in so long. Hmm, may not be soloable anymore. Let us know how you go.

The 50 Coin Achivement will require paid help.

if you have a retired main, you can do a 10-day retry, toss him into a lvl 21 guild and then use the guild summons... if your main happens to be the opposite faction (like mine), create a DK, it only takes a few hours to get to 60 and maybe a couple more to get 250 gold for azeroth flying. then you can somewhere wherever you wish every 2 hours.

Getting carried takes all of the fun out of it! (for me, anyway)

I am perfectly content with the existence of achievements that are impossible to get under F2P restrictions
