Exp-off and Exp-on Players will not be separated in Wrath Classic BGs

This changes everything.

I've been out of the tbclassic loop for a while, but at least from what I've seen on the occasional EU 19s streams and a few 29s.

Almost every bracket has more or less died out or struggled to keep active pops with full teams on both factions, so the only thing this really seem to change is that if woltk brings back more people to the game?

I'd love to get proven wrong cause it would be cool to see twinking thrive in woltk-classic but won't the boosting issues remain as well, with people more or less just wanting to power through the early levels. And even more so now that the level cap gets raised to 80?

The only thing that seems to be the saving grace of keeping active & healthy brackets going, will be if a lot of people return to woltk-classic twinking as a whole instead of playing private servers.

Else i think the activity will get too split and only the lower level brackets remain active as currently, plus the higher ones such as 60-69.

Idk maybe I'm just a little pessimistic here, but I really don't see how this will change the current situation much.

It's in my opinion that many players will indeed return to play 19s at it's glory days.

Hell I even saw Curley resurface from the abyss recently.

iirc, theyve taken some steps to limit the xp gained from being in a group with someone remarkably higher level than you, in an effort to curb boosting.

jesus christ that would give me a panic attack

WoTLK had increased xp gains from BG's over TBC. IMO, this means a lot of the returning and old players alike will be leveling through BG's if they're the type that don't like to quest. There's a lot of people like that. Boosting will also fade off a lot because of reduced xp gains from higher levels absorbing most the xp, like Chop mentioned. (Unless blizz gives us the instant respawn, low hp spiders in the Argent camp in Icecrown that gave full xp to all levels for multiple patches - Seriously, that shit was awesomely busted)

wat
2.x had _no_ xp gain at all from battlegrounds
3.x had none either, until 3.2

"WoTLK had increased xp gains from BG's over TBC"
We're getting 3.3.5 client, no? That would mean some xp from a BG is more than none. We've been getting final patch clients so far with content updating along for progression. Unless they don't add the xp gain until a later patch, which I haven't seen noted. The blue post even talks about leveling through BGs

yes. but _increased_ would suggest that 2.x had _any_ xp gain from bgs at all (which it does not).
xp gain from battlegrounds is a _new_ feature from 3.2.

39s got revived mid tbc on eu and has been getting AB pops even without AB weekend last few weeks and with way less 39s queuing than during the classic/tbc prime. This announcement helps a lot with hype and just keeping the levlers in the games will make 39s and 29s pop in wrath 100% and when/if actual twinks come back then 2 pops up at same time aint much of a reach.

You're kinda just interpreting it differently and splitting hairs because it also makes sense that some is more than none. That's an increase.

levellers ruin twink battlegrounds actually but yea

Quite honestly, this is like saying you don't like your foot and you'd rather cut it off.

Having newbies cycle through is a vital way to grow the population. It's the only reason I ever became involved. Some people whooped my pathetic leveler and I inspected them to find out what was missing, and how I could do better. Or, for the veterans, sometimes you will see a player doing well despite circumstances and then message them to see if they'd like to learn how to gear properly and join up.

The rest of the levelers simply cycle through their game, getting their pittance of honor and moving on. Or they afk out.

At the very least, they are needed to get games to pop. Don't let elitism ruin twinking again. Yes, it's conceded that we all enjoy even games or premades but we also need our daily bread to survive.

better never than late.

Hey everyone. First time logging in here in a couple of years. Just wanted to see some WotLK gear guides. I am probably going to hit the 79 bracket, but I’ll see how things are going in earlier brackets (59/60/69).

Right, so glad to see xp off players are not getting separated. Glad the Classic Lead Dev agreed with me so game on everyone!

Since the blue post, I have seen a big uptake in BG activity (more levellers queuing), which is interesting since xp hasn’t started yet for them. In the 39 bracket, we’re getting games every night (before, we had to schedule them in discord once/twice a week).

The reason why I think WotLK will bring more activity than TBC is simply because levellers have a reason to queue BGs (experience). In Classic, gear was gated behind reputation and TBC, gear was gated behind battleground tokens. TBH, part way through TBC, Bliz nerfed the toke requirement on gear but levelling players did not pick up on this fact.

Anyways, hope some of you rejoin the Classic circuit.

The level 58 TBC character boost is also on sale for 1/2 price right now, $20. For anyone looking for 59+ brackets.

agree. so far everything Blizzard Classic has been not much different and mirrors private servers. the hype, spin up, and decay.

i doubt players will be able to control MM hunters that killed 29 and 39 brackets. 19s did some semi policing.

lets not forget it was 19s on BH particularly asked for the XP off split in WOTLK. players came to the bracket after wards, because it was easy to make a 19 and get games
