Question regarding Alchemist Flask vs. Inscription shoulder enchant

Hey all

Back playing wow from a 3 year break. I have a 20 warrior I'm gearing and, though I've looked through many guides, I can't seem to find an answer to this quesiton.

Should I pick up and keep inscription for the shoulder enchant rather than keeping my alchemist's flask? Someone told me that I should because I can use a consumable flask to get a similar buff to the alchemist flask while I have the shoulder enchant, but I can't seem to find any flasks that compare to the +9 str buff that a level 20 toon can use. So unless there are consumables nearly as good, I can't see why I'd drop alchemy for a shoulder enchant.

Thanks for any and all help!

Keep your flask it's better in everything but arena and war games. If you play BGs flask is best.

Generally people will make a BG toon and an arena/WG toon and choose professions around that.

But for BGs and most pvp settings, alch/engineering is best

I have a simple answer as to why i personally run the shoulder enchant atm vs the flask, i can use fished up firewater for a +8 along with the shoulder enchant, but,
Im only doing this as a space holder, i wanted to farm the hunter glyphs with inscription first, and now im between grinds is how I'd put it, i have to drop inscription, herb a bunch, easy enough with a sky golem mount, then level alchemy, but I'm having doen time between profession grinds, as alchemy will be the final choice when i can be bothered to grind it, im sure though that +11 including scaling on shoulder enchant and my potion combo, with the mastery on top, is a higher top, and better all round, if you can be bothered to fish for sealed crates in pandaria, which i do less and less these days, haha.

After 10+ twinks, I'm dead tired of farming herbs for alchemy. I like the shoulder enchants. If anyone asks, I'm not lazy, just an arena enthusiast COPIUM

Thanks for the replies everyone. I truly appreciate the help.

me when people point out my lack of terts

Hey Chops! I've been using your warrior guide and it's been very helpful, so thanks a bunch for that. I'm hoping you or someone in here can confirm another item of understanding that I'm not 100% sure about.

Am I correct in understanding how queueing for BGs works?

Here's what I think I know:
1) If your XP is off and you don't have game time, you cannot queue for BGs at all.
2) If your XP is off and you DO have game time, you can queue for BGs but the queues don't ever pop.
3) If you want to queue for a BG at level 20, you have to have your XP on AND have no game time. Then you can queue for BGs and they'll pop.

Is there anything I'm missing here or is this correct?

1) If your XP is off and you don't have game time, you cannot queue for BGs at all.
You can, but you're put in a dead queue with other people that have XP turned off. You won't be able to join with levelers.

Okay - I might be wrong here.

2) If your XP is off and you DO have game time, you can queue for BGs but the queues don't ever pop.
Same situation as above.

3) If you want to queue for a BG at level 20, you have to have your XP on AND have no game time. Then you can queue for BGs and they'll pop.
Having no game time only makes it so your character won't level above 20. The game time doesn't matter for queuing. But yes, this is the scenario that you'll want for running BGs as a F2P/Vet account.

Awesome, thanks for clearing everything up for me. I appreciate the help!

Now to start grinding some ilvl 28 BOEs with some level 24 toon...

OP was correct unless it was changed sometime in SL, if you try to queue with xp turned off without gametime you get a trial account cant use this feature type error
I swear I was able to queue in early SL when I forgot to turn XP on on one toon. It's been over a year though, I could be wrong. Thanks for the clarification

Yeah the only reason I knew this part was because I tried to queue, got the error, and then I couldn't even turn my XP back on without petitioning a GM who then gave me an inaccurate warning about banked XP on my vet account. Twinkin' ain't easy.
