I call this one....... The Hunter Within......

In case anyone is wondering, it's a https://www.wowhead.com/item=114983/sticky-grenade-launcher ;)

Well, I finally did it boys and girls. I got the Elder title.
XW5isCo.jpg

Now strap on in cause this is a long story, of how I started with 0 achievements and did all of them in 3 days (together with the https://www.wowhead.com/item=169208/crown-of-everlasting-fortune?bonus=0#comments) with the (mostly) F2P route.
On the 1st day I decided to do, what at the time seemed, the hardest elders to do. And those were the horde city ones. Especially as a level 20. Undercity was fairly easy (especially since I got to keep the https://www.wowhead.com/item=173523/tirisfal-camp-scroll from my Holy Artifact quest). The Elder was at the King's Throne room near the entrance, and with no guards.
Second came Orgrimmar, which I decided to brute force myself into, dying a couple of times (a long walk from the graveyard which was at Razor Hill). All in all it wasn't difficult, just time consuming (in hindsight, the least time consuming 'hard' elder to get).

Now I was preparing myself for Thunder Bluff, thinking how am I gonna use my bubble and where to get to the aptly named Elder's Rise where the elder was. It was then when I learned of a fairly useful item, the https://www.wowhead.com/item=90078/cracked-talisman . It has 3 charges, making you invincible for 20 seconds (you can not attack during those 20 secs ofc) and with a 3 sec cooldown. Essentially a 1 minute old school paladin bubble.
Two charges was more than enough to get me to where I needed to be.

I was feeling on top of the world, thinking how smart and cunning I was to do the 'hardest' elders with such ease. I was so wrong.

Next came the dungeon elders. Fairly simple, only classic and wotlk dungeons, all available at level 20. Except that 6 of them you could not queue for. Sunken Temple, BRD, LBRS, Utgarde Pinnacle, Gundrak and Halls of Stone. As a prot pally, all but one of those were soloable as they just required clearing some mobs. Utgarde Pinnacle, on the other hand, had its elder at the end boss. So I needed another person to come with me and clear the instance. Shoutout to Kru(k)ger, fellow guildie of Stormwind Sewer Rats from Ravencrest. All of those instances were easy to walk to, bar Halls of Stone to which I will get to later.

After this came Cataclysm elders. As someone who leveled engineering for the cogwheels, I already had Hyjal and Twilight Highlands explored with its respective flight paths, even had one fp in Uldum.
But there were 2 zones which irked me. Firstly Deepholm, which there was no solo way of accessing, and Vashj'ir. I do remember seeing a post of a F2P who swam there, so I had my hopes of getting there.
With my https://www.wowhead.com/spell=109099/watergliding-jets on my belt, I went to the Stormwind harbor to swim all the way to the underwater zone. And how I swam, and swam. Only to die to fatigue and my spirit to be pun in TIRISFAL GLADES of all places (because apparently the Great Sea zone is a subzone of Tirisfal). So came plan b, to swim from the shore of Dun Morogh. Yes, the shore of Dun freaking Morogh. How do you get to that shore? Well you swim from the Wetlands all the way around the edges of Dun Morogh.

Just like that, easy. Such a beautiful and tranquil place.

So there I was, preparing myself for the swim of my (character's) life. As failure would require me to do this shore run all over again and a hearth to Dalaran from Tirisfal, something I was not really ecstatic on re-doing. That is until I remembered something. And you can see it in my bars too, all the way to the right of my main bar. One whole charge of that talisman that made me ethereal/incorporeal. Does it work on fatigue? Only one way to find out.

It does. Of course, I would have known this prior had I bothered to read the comments on wowhead, where one user all the way back from MoP wrote that it did, indeed work. I was unbelievably happy. Only now to swim all the way to the elder, and I'm done. On the way I, of course, did pick up the only FLIGHT path to Vashj'ir so that I would never have to do this again.

But I was not done because, as you remember, I still had to go to Deepholme. Thanks to two other guildies, I got summoned at the Stonecore Summoning stone. Shout-out to Poonz and Butters (and your accented letters which I will not bother to find). Without you two this would not have been possible.
Two elders in Deepholme. One at the central hub, easy, and another in the south east. Deppholm is a bitch of a zone to traverse, as it is designed around a flying mount. One which I could not use. So after exploring and proving to myself that the second elder is not accessible without a flying mount, I did what had to be done. Queue for and arena, die and fly to the spot, where I would accept the match and be alive once it finished. And I did finish the matches, I am no filthy deserter (except when I am, which is always 100% justifiable /s). I then spend another 15 minutes getting the Exploration achievement, because this was the only time I am going to be in that zone, so might as well.

Now we come to Northrend. All of these were easy to get to. All except two groups. The elders in Storm Peaks and the one in Wintergrasp.
Storm Peaks was also another zone designed around flying, so that entailed more purposeful suicide. Nothing too hard, just time consuming. Thankfully repair bills for level 20s is laughably low.
The hardest part was the Wintergrasp elder. Why? Well, you see, apart from me having to actually get there on a ground mount, Alliance had to control the damn thing. Again, why? Because the elder is inside the room where the entrance to Vault of Archavon is, only accessible to those who control Wintergrasp. Fun.
So began my journey, from the Argent Tournament ground (which you can get to talking to a guy next to the Wotlk Dalaran Flighmaster) around the outer rim of Icecrown.
1WlP83b.jpg
The trek wasn't that complicated, you could just follow a 'road' and get there. The problem was, once I did get to Wintergrasp, I had saw that it was in Horde control. And that the next fight was going to be in 47 minutes.
So I logged off.
Came back just in the nick of time, with 30 seconds from the fight starting. I went to the zone border of Icecrown as to not get teleported away once the fight start, and queued for it. And then I waited. No queue pop. No queue pop? How, the fight literally just started. Well, there is an explenation for that. The Battleground of Wintergrasp and the out world zone Wintergrasp are two seperate things (I think). Why do I say (think) this? Because in the whole 30 minutes the fight started, nothing happened. No buildings were destroyed no workshops were assaulted, captured, no vehicles were made. I checked this by zoning into WG (and hearing that beautiful Fel Reaver warning sound every time) and looking at the map, and the vehicle number on the top of my screen.
Nothing, Wintergrasp was barren, and there was no way that as a level 20 I could assault it on myself. And so the Horde won the 'fight' and kept Wintergrasp to themselves. I was pissed. On wowhead I checked wether there was a workaround to this. And to my surprise, there was. You can glitch yourself trough the door. There were 3 options. Using the rogue grapple hook (can't since I am a paladin), using a chair toy in which you sit, quite popular amongst these sort of ''''exploits'''', which I did not have. The third option was to use a mount. Something that was confirmed last time in 2011. Desperate, I decided to try out the mount idea.
It did not work. I had snuck myself in front of the giant door, and repeatedly mounted in the left corner to no avail. There has to be a way, maybe I was doing it wrong. So I decided to see the video that was linked on wowhead, way back in 2010.
And I was doing it wrong. You didn't do the mounting in front of the door, no, you did it ABOVE the door. Here is the video in question (SOUND WARNING), with the Youtube anthem accompanying it.
How the hell do I get up there? Easy. I went up to the main graveyard (the one defenders ressurect at), climbed on a little hill, used the darkmoon cannon, and glided at the exact spot I needed to be at. Now all that is left was getting into that corner and mounting until I went trough the wall. I changed many mounts, going for the larger ones like the gronnling and the chasm-leaper, but I could not do it. That is until I remembered I had the dragonhawk mount. That one put you way up into the air when mounting it. And so I began mounting and mounting. And I did it. I went into the little plie of snow that was infront of my character, still outside the wall. So I continued mounting again and again, until I went trough the paper thin wall, and saw the beautiful abyss that was WoW's underground.

With Eastern Kingdoms done, all I had left was a victory lap trough Kalimdor, finishing at Silithus shown on the very first picture.
And now I have come here to tell my mildly interesting story, how I got the 'Elder' title from square one in 3 days as a level 20.
Huge thanks again to Poonz, Butters and Kruger for helping me with this, and a shout-out to my guild The Stormwind Sewer Rats.

Also enjoy my new transmog lul.

Elder title complete! I had to level an Alliance shaman for deepholm (and it made the Alliance capitals a lot easier too). This also meant that I had to do all of the other cataclysm elders with him too, luckily the darkmoon faire was up so he could get the cannon for access to Hyjal. Storm Peaks required a bit of strategic dying and then use of the cannon+glider. Otherwise it was pretty smooth sailing. With the current state of Crusader, soloing the necessary bits of dungeons was straightforward. Overall a fun tour around Azeroth. I haven't been to some of those zones in ages.

get the cannon for access to Hyjal.

Just FYI, you can get into hyjal by running around the east side of the gorge in southern winterspring... not sure if you needed it to get to the elder once there tho. But it's just a jump up in the hills, found it on my pally to go mine obsidium.

Yeah, I've read that there's a way you can parkour around the canyon. I wasn't able to figure it out when I got the hyjal flight paths on my warrior a while back. The darkmoon faire overlapped with the Lunar Festival, so I figured it was easier to just grab the cannon to blast the new shaman over the same way I had done previously.

You can easily enter Winterspring without the cannon by going over the east side of the canyon. The cannon helps in a lot of places, so it's good to have.
