How Twinked Out Are You Really?

More of opened questions, not calling anybody out.

Glancealot made me think about this from a comment he made in another post. What percentage of twink do you actually have? 100% or more like 60% when you really look at it under a microscope.

Twink seems to be thrown around quite loosely these day. Obviously it's supposed to be "the best of the best of the best with honors"... but, seems to have fallen into "I got this shit out of a TBC toilet, meh other stuff is pretty good... lets fuck'n roll!"

Obviously the meta has evolved as well. We have all kinds of extras now before that did not exist in BFA or earlier was well.

Do Terts make you BiS... do they matter? .. if you don't have terts are you only 90% twinked out... or are you 99.9% twinked out and terts are just something like a nice little .1% bonus on top?

If you have all gem gear, buts it just a mish mash of random stats that you try to justify to other people even tho you know its trash...what percentage do you lose?

i49s/Bumble Staff... are these just considered a bonus?... if they are not they easily make up like 25% of the twink equation, regardless of any other gear.

Do you have on chest piece with a stat like Dodge even tho it has 3 gem slots, but there are better options?... how much does that lower the percentage?

What about the Valentines day necklace... if you missed out did you lose 1% or 10%?

Did you eat your feast, did you sharpened/wizard oil your weapons/do you have the Alchemists Flask/do you have your Ghost iron Dragonling and cool goggles? What percentage does this make up?

Do you care about cosmetics?... do they even count towards a finished percentage?

Do you lose percentage points if you don't care about world achievements/quests?

I feel like lots of people have a 50% TOPS twink when they actually think they have 100%.

I think im 5% twinked out, only managed to double epic proc 2 relics on my artifact weapons (after fucking 8 toons attempts) and failed at pretty much everything else lmao.

(Edit: Im now 0% twink, according to Chops latest update on the Official Twinking Research Facilities)

In terms of gear and BiS I am at like 20% IMO :D I don't really care about beeing BiS atm.
But lately I've been working on getting every single reputation, recipe, quests and achievements done. I am at like 30-40% done maybe less.. but aiming to get everything possible done asap.
So overall I am at like 30%.

You have to look at it from different angles.

In an absolutely, 100% ideal scenario, no one is fully twinked, because it would mean that you have every BIS item, grandfathered and current (including enchants).

Is BIS calculated inside a relevant timeframe, say anything inside Shadowlands, including the early, later GF'd gear and artifacts?

Is BIS seen as "current" available gear?

As far as tertiary stats go, that also highly depends on class, so that will matter more for some classes than others.

My personal take on BIS in the past has always been a mix of GF'd gear plus what's currently available, because that's what's been ruling the twink brackets for the main part for most of the game.

However, Shadowlands mixed that up a bit.
New GF'd items highly out-weighs previous GF'd gear, and the gearing itself became even more dynamic than BFA, whereas BFA was already quite dynamic due to epic upgrades.

My definition on current BIS would be locked to the expansion specifically.
Early GF'd items, socketed AND more than average tertiary stat gear rolls and best enchants.

You could go super stingy and say that no one is BIS unless they have perfect rolls on everything, but that's just not really feasible. Call that "true" BIS if you want something above what should already be considered quite the feat.

"Twink" is a playstyle, not a set of gear. While BiS is measurable (to some degree) and can be broken down into equations, "Twink" can only be measured in our hearts!

i came back to WoW at the beginning of february and realized I needed to be self-sustainable in order to not be a beggar. (asking for a 20k loan from the 800k guild bank but getting rejected was one of the major reasons i started trying to make gold systematically)

the initial idea was to make enough gold by flipping items in the AH to support a second account but here we go, 4 months later...i just bought https://www.wowhead.com/item=40110/haunted-memento for 350k to use on my 20 hpal, that's how twinked out i am, i.e., a cosmetic item i have could fund multiple twinks.

i was really excited when i first surpassed 800k because that was more than the guild bank, but at this point i am numb with respect to gold. i don't even feel anything when i buy something for 10k and sell it for 20k within a day.

Who measures their twink by the weight of their wallet

Who measures their twink by the weight of their wallet

it all comes down to wallet size to be honest.

a socket speed ring is gonna cost you 1 million.

In terms of baseline, i think 90% twinked out, i didnt get the 49 artifact for my main but i got bramblestaff.
In terms of maximum power i think 10%, and it is nearly quite hard for me to get stronger, there are 0 ilvl 28 socket gear on my auction house (there really isnt anything much on my AH except some shadowlands stuff) and it takes a little bit of time to farm the ilvl 28 sockets

Sure. On the topic of gold, I just looked at the image in your signature; what point are you trying to get across? That gold is what makes a player good?

point is, there is a clear metric for performance when it comes to gold.

but there isn't one when it comes to 20s pvp.

when there is a metric, it is easy to differentiate the cream of the crop from the good, and the good from the bad.

We are not even a year in, you have all the time in the world to farm those fuck'n Dustavar Pigs and trade up... which seems to be your whole deal.
