20s Guide Index and FAQ - Read Before Posting New Threads

Oh, I see what you mean.
Honestly making a linked account and leveling a F2P takes maybe 3 hours or something. It's not that big of a hassle.
Also the fact that it works this way is what has made this probably the best twinking bracket in the last ten years. It's actually a good thing, even if it personally inconveniences you.
I just looked it up you can actually have up to 8 WoW accounts on one Bnet account. I was confused and thought I'd had to create a whole new Bnet account. Guess I will just set up a new WoW account and play a F2P character.
Cheers.

20s is good because it has a large player pool due to F2Ps and twinks hunting F2Ps, so bgs tend to pop faster than almost any other bracket.
That's not why they pop...

Without levelers, 20s would be just as dead as any other xp off bracket.

You really think 20s would survive as xp off in today's game? LOL.
Not after all these years. But if it never went xp on? Ye maybe. All hypothetical ofcourse. My point was simply that levelers isnt what made the bracket popular.

what made the bracket popular and what makes the bracket popular are two different things. Something Im sure your pedantry can appreciate.

What made the bracket a decade ago has nothing to do with what makes it now. Such a boomer twink Goesid.

Sure, but if every time f2p has been xpoff the bracket has thrived, saying that it cant thrive as xpoff is a weird stance to take.

Above and also, guilty.

The past is not the future, old man ;)

Honestly though "would f2p survive in xpoff" in todays climate is an interesting question. It... could? There's always going to be a large group of people who play the game for free because paying for the game is either beyond their means or they just dont want to.

I actually come down on the "it would survive, but it wouldnt thrive" side of things. Being in leveler BGs is a form of recruitment. And, with TBC on the horizon, f2p wont have the draw for the more competitive twinks and guilds that TBC will. Hard to compete with an xpac a solid number of people consider the apex of twinking (even if I think it was wrath but whatever).

But we'd still get pops, for sure.

But Classic wasn't around during those times, all of the twinks that are interested in more competitive play have moved on to Classic and or are waiting for TBC.

All the twink charm of an xp off bracket is gone nowadays imo (20s don't feel like 20s anymore, 100% mount speed, etc.), 19s being as dead as they are is evidence enough that 20s today would not survive in xp off. It's just not the same game anymore. There are very few players in retail 20s atm that are truly interested in those super sweaty 10v10s; Getting full wargames alone is hard enough, the idea of having xp off queues pop regularly is lunacy. People just want to smash levelers, man.

Pretty sure you don't play anymore either? Proves my point enough.

Ill take it.

19s have always had ups and downs as long as f2p has existed and the popularity or lack thereof in 19s had have little effect on the bracket. Especially as far as pugs go.

I just got dragged by friends bored of classic.

With the advent of Classic I really only see 2 big reasons to queue 20s atm: it's free, and the queues are consistent.. and I think the latter of the two is the more important one honestly. Most of the actual twinks would just debuff into xp on queues or move on.

Sure, in a world where the queue is separated they might still pop due to how many fledgling heroes of Warcraft there are or ppl just too broke to pay for a sub, but I don't think a game every half hour or so where half of the people leave early because it's their first BG ever counts as an 'alive' bracket.
