Is ghost iron dragonling all that great?

I've seen people use this presumably as part of a mastery stack. Is the dragonling any good? I'm struggling to see a use case for most classes. For hunters you can get harlan's loaded die with a socket which i imagine is probably better. Am i missing something here?

think its mainly because its a trinket that gives you 30+ in stats that does not have to proc in fight, but might be wrong. might also be easier to get the dragonling first as you don't have to rely on the item to proc a socket.

feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

Before you start getting the trinket, I ask you a vital question. Are you a vet or purely f2p? If vet, do you have a high level character? If yes then you can get it. If you are pure f2p, Oh boy......
First off, you need 75 Cata Engineering (To buy the cogheel sockets), and be mindful that Cata content is lvl 30 so you are at a huge disadvantage.
Second you need Pandaria Engineering to 40 to use relic of the past on the trinket.
(Took me well about 3 weeks to get only 2 of the materials to upgrade to 75 engineering, till i threw in the towel)

Quit being hoes about searching, it's a forum for a reason. At least this wasn't a completely ignorant question. Yes, I use it to mastery stack and the dragon isn't awful either.

um... exactly. Its a forum, not a discord chat. Things are (ideally) pretty easy to find by browsing topics and using search functions. That said, this hasnt *exactly* been covered yet.

Anyway, OP yes. The dragonling lets you stack secondaries as you so choose *and* the pet actually kinda pumps and has some pretty decent uptime. I use it specifically because I was going for a certain secondary split and given the haphazard nature of gearing with ilvl 28 greens, it let me fill in gaps in stats.

I got them from TBC/WoTLK tailoring at 1 skill (took this prof for nets).
you have to be pandaria engi lvl 40 to actually *use* them in the recipe, not make them.

Yes, i forgot about it (as i forgot about it when i tried to use it for my JC, and failed bcs was <40 skill), right. My bad, sorry.

Glad to see a helpful response from the mods :)

idk I prefer stamina trinkets tbh like the one from the first boss of wrath of azhara and freedom trinket. extra hp is really nice.

Thank you for your replies. For the record, I actually did go back and review some of the threads via search function and they aren't really that helpful answering this question in any meaningful capacity. I just need to figure out which classes would benefit most from this mastery stack vs the many trinket options that exist as a drop since my sub is running out and im trying to grab what would be bis.

I’ll just throw in (since I didn’t see anyone else mention it) that you’re limited on the cogwheels that you can put in it. I believe there’s only 1 mastery cogwheel, and it’s unique equipped. But there is (if my memory is correct) 2 haste and 2 critical strike cogwheels, as well as some others (parry, versatility, maybe dodge?). Anyways, just an FYI, you can’t stack all mastery cogwheels (sad day).

I use this trinket on all my 20s. Like @Chops said, the dragon that procs happens quite a bit, and I believe it’s attack is a chain lightning attack. It’s been great on my prot warrior. And I chose this over some other trinkets because mastery seems to stack really well for some classes (wars, warlocks, hunts) so I’d rather have that (and other secondaries) than 90 more hit points.

If you’re were on Aerie Peak I’d hook you up! I made a bunch. I bet you could find someone to make it for you pretty cheap.

Or just dont be a dickhead and assist members that you, "moderate". Things get barried, others don't have the same mindset as you to search for things they wouldn't think of. Think I get anal about thousands of the same questions when streaming or mentioned in a comment? No, they don't know it's been asked a bunch of times. Can't handle that stress, then doesn't look like the mod title is fit for you bud. nuff said

You quoted me helping a new member while telling a notorious troll to fuck off... so you could yell at me about not being helpful?

I had forgotten that the cata cogwheels were unique equipped. I'm guessing people run either kill-shades or ghost iron and not both.

I quote anytime I reply to someone. Reply to the response I seen. That's how I operate. But I see you across all kinds of threads, even recall the, "if all the people that don't like me" post you made mocking. I get it, this site isn't a business, it's not company owned, but be professional my guy. New comers come here and see that, tf you expect them to think? This is me talking about the shit you say in general, not just this specific thread. It's annoying to have someone be given that title and no be proper about it. I've known Blackberry for a while, know how he gets. If my mans can be professional on the site as admin, should follow those same steps. Lookin out for the twink community is all.

A few classes that value haste like to use both. But for me as a hunter I prefer to use a metasocket tbc helm and just the dragonling.

I agree with the sentiment but Chops does appear on all the threads pretty much . Helping all types of players at different levels of the game - it's cool af.
