US Looking to make a fire mage.

How likely is it that I regret making this thread and attempting to make a 20 Firemage

Yes I know you think im gonna hate, yes i know arcane mage so so much better. Yes i realize im an idiot for wasting my time on such a irrelevant spec.

Now that we are past that, Im making a fire mage, looking for advice on what pieces of quest/bg gear is gonna be best per slot. I have fair idea on some pieces. but was just curious on getting some of the people who have done the hard grind and footwork this expansion seeing that i have been less active since Little Twomorebeers was born. any advice in what exact gear pieces i should be targeting that fit the criteria of my search to regret the grind im about to do would be greatly appreciated. Now onto the things im looking for in my gear.

Secondary stat Priority:
Crit>Fireflash(with highest stat ratio possible with split going to crit)>Quickblade>vers>haste.

As long as its not a huge sacrifice to intellect im willing to sacrifice intellect for crit. Trying to reach atleast 50% crit. What i have learned from my 29 firemage once you get up over 45% crit as well as good targeting and talent into Searing Touch. you can turn proc Hotstreak 5-6s in row. making fire mage intriguing. Sooo if you are aware of weapons/pieces of gear with a high crit ratio. or something better than silvermoon robes of fireflash. Please let me know. Also accepting donations to building this mage. :) IF anyone interested in helping me get this beast going LMK <333. otherwise troll on my friends.

Way to be a doucher but yeah fire doesnt work.
 
I also tried to make a fire mage. I got two crit epics. Even with 50% crit your damage is really low and you just have to run around scorching waiting for procs.

Pretty sure you will be better off in arcane gear, vers/haste and playing firestarter and just attacking pets/totems for the guaranteed procs.

I am yet to try it out in bgs as my gametime hasnt ended but I will defo be trying my crit build out for some fun. I think its best to just get quickblade pieces as scorch is already really quick cast you just want your pyros to be as meaty as possible imo.

Fire is pretty much crit and haste last I knew, unless you wanna be tanky as fuck and stack versa lightly.

Crit will pretty much have hot streak go "LET ME EAT THIS" and haste well, pew pew pew.
 
dont listen to these chodes telling you fire doesnt work. It works just fine.

If you're thinking long term down the road, I wouldnt sweat epics at all. Cloth crit gear with gem slots is all over the place in TBC dungeons, which it looks like we'll get access to in SL. So make your toon, gear it as best you can, have fun throwing scorches and being way cooler than any arcane mage and come SL, you'll be glad you did. Upgrades abound.

Absolutely correct. but even with firemage 1/3 as viable it gives more satisfaction when you kill someone that you shouldnt had. Not arguing fire mage is better dps choice cuz we all know it aint

very valid point that as i level will consider if my gear falls more in that direction. Appreciate the input
