EU+US How to start a vet twink properly

Veteran
Hey guys, it's my first post here and, actually, my first attempt creating a twink. I'm a little confused about how the whole veteran thing works. I created a druid today, leveled her up to 20, turned off exp, and am currently farming gear from dungeons/quests. I noticed I can't queue for BGs now, which is probably because my XP is off. However, I still don't quite understand the next steps.

I still have a subscription for 10 more days and I was planning to play for free with my 20 lvl twinks after it expires. What should I do though while my subscription is still active? Farm dungeon/quest gear? Level engineering/alchemy? Buy enchants on the AH? How is this going to go later? Am I supposed to turn XP back on right before my sub expires? And only then will I be able to do BGs again? Am I supposed to then have a ton of enchants in my bag and apply them to new BG gear I'll be getting from crates? Will I even be able to apply enchants when I play with free account restrictions?

And what are the other restrictions? Should I send my twinks some gold from my high level character? What else should I do?

I would highly appreciate if someone linked a guide or something (if there is one) because I don't quite understanding how starting a new vet account to play for free with your 20 lvl twinks works. What should be my next steps?

Do every quest zone and see what gear slots you get epics for.
Fill the rest of the gear slots up with satchel stuff from dungeons.
Yes you need to level your engi and alchemy.
Yes turn on your experience just before your sub expires.
Either make enchants on another char or buy off AH. Yes you should have a stock up of enchants, after your sub expires you will however only be allowed to put on enchants that requires below 75 skill in enchanting. This means that pretty much all vanilla enchants will be off the table and the good ring enchants from BFA will be off the table. Any enchants from another Expac will be available after your sub expires because those xpac profession sets only go to 75 or 100 with 75 - 100 being rank ups. So if you need say crusader you have to enchant that before the sub expires, there is no reason to stock up on those.
Yep enchant those bg crates.
You should get rid of your gold to another character before your sub expires since it will be useless and just slowly drip away on repairs and whatnot since you cant gain any gold if you have more than 10g.

Hi and welcome. Hope u enjoy the Vet life. I’ve been enjoying it for 5 years now. ;) But it’s not for everyone.
Try checking out these threads in the Vets section. The below will have a heap of Vet Armorys for u to review
https://xpoff.com/threads/veterans-armory-list.272/

And the below is a bit of a guide
https://xpoff.com/threads/veteran-quick-start-gearing-guide-bfa.82655/

Unfortunately u will require 2 bites at the cherry to truly gear ur Vet(s). Because u won’t be able to apply all the chants on ur bg gear till u get time again. Blizz used to sometimes give us 3 free days or a free weekend sometimes, but I haven’t seen that for a while. Those were good to rechant the better bg gear u get.
I would suggest, if u have time making another 1 or 2 toons. U can main 1 of them, but I’ve found having a few others can break up the play style from time to time. I like to have a heals, a tank and a dps so I can enjoy all aspects of the game. But that’s just me.
Also, if u have the coin or ability to make them, get the biggest bags u can afford and unlock ur bank slots, resource tab and void storage on all Vets. I will need a lot of room as ur collect more and more gear.
Most of all, have fun!

Best bet is rerolling to get the epics you need(if any are absolutely nuts like soothsayers Harness, sparkproof gloves) roll into bgs with no chants until you get the desired blues from bg crates and then sub, or ask a gm for a day of game time.

Gonna straight up disagree with Catty and tell you to completely ignore rerolling for epics. There aren't any quest epics that you need or even really want as a druid and rerolling your character over and over again to try and get them is a pain in the ass. You're new to the bracket and most of this shit is a distraction.

I'll assume your druid is boomkin or resto? Sweet. You dont even need to worry about re-subbing to reenchant things. Here's what you need.

Get the full fang set from wailing caverns. Slap minor speed on the boots, glorious stats on the chest, and glove reinforcements on the fang gloves (get a high level toon to do this before you equip them).

Get the cloak of the brotherhood from deadmines, put Gift of Versatility enchant on it. Level engineering and make Master Engineers Goggles, Spellpower Goggles Extreme Plus and see if you can wrangle up a Green Lens of the Aurora. These are your helms. Slap Mark of the Hidden Satyr or Mark of the Claw on your BOA necklace. Go to Ratchet and buy a couple pairs of Wolf Bracers, put +3 spellpower on one and +4 stam on the other.

If you're horde, do the stonetalon questline and buy a set of Krom'Gar Champions leather shoulders (8int, 9 stam) and if you're alliance you can settle for the shoulders off Baron in shadowfang keep or some good aurora shoulders from random dungeon satchels.

Use a higher level toon to send your druid 1 mark of honor and go buy the ring from the WSG vendor. Lorekeepers Ring if youre alliance, Advisors Ring if youre horde. Get another aurora ring from random dungeon satchels. Put Accord of Versatility on both of these.

Go get yourself any serviceable staff for a weapon (heartboilers, odos ley staff, whatever) and put +9 spellpower on it (healing power tends to be cheaper than major spell power).

Then, stock up on on Major Spellpower and +int to off hand enchants. These are what you'll put on your BG crate weapons when you get them and can be applied without game time. Note, Healing power CANNOT be applied without game time, while Major Spellpower can, even though they give you the same benefit. Also grab a couple binding of versatility ring enchants. These can be applied without game time as well and will go on your BG crate rings. Same with your bracer enchants for when you get BG crate bracers.

VOILA! Done resto/boomkin druid. Easiest class in the bracket to gear.

pro-tip: should you find yourself needing game time for whatever reason, asking for 24 hours to "check out the new BFA" content typically works, as does "I need to transfer a toon and it says I have to log on them first". But dont abuse it. Once every couple of months and you should be good.

Ahhh, I didn't see that this was for boomie/resto. In general I think some epics are worth rerolling for cool points, minimal practicality. If the desire to play feral was there field tested spear is well worth the reroll.

yea, great weapon. But I like to caution new players against rerolling. Its a hassle, BG weapons are more than serviceable and it just muddies the waters.

but yea, there are quest epics worth looking at. But the most successful of the few ferals I've seen don't even bother with them.

if ya have money laying around, give blizz 20-40 bucks, and get a "wow token". then after that sell it for the 100,000 or so gold and leave it on that character incase you either want to resub or spend it on items from time to time.

Yep epics are overrated. The best set for leather/mail casters is the Fang set, the only amazing epic is Foamspittle for its massive versa boost, but if you are playing Rsham (arguably the best class in the bracket), You are probably just better off running any other 1h + shield with chants

foam is dwarfed by bg crates unless your FCing on a druid.

OP is playing a druid. Foamspittle is a relevant piece of gear but not really necessary.

Win !

Thanks so much for all these directions guys! I just need to (hopefully) obtain the foamspittle and gloves of the fang (they don't drop!)

Same with your bracer enchants for when you get BG crate bracers.
Funny enough I played 1 BG when leveling and opened the crate once turned 20, and the first thing that dropped was the 31 aurora bracers :D
[doublepost=1587093412,1587092824][/doublepost]So looks like I made some progress gearing up the druid (except the epic staff, gloves, and a ring). Oh also, how do I obtain that (supposedly) OP trinket from party sync? I've never done it before, how does it work and are the trinkets worth it?

So far, I absolutely love the resto druid for its mobility, escapability, instant heals, and damage output from 2 DoTs. Might try boomkin soon, even though I noticed that for some reason, DoTs tick for less damage in boomkin? Isn't that weird?

I have 10 more days of gametime left, and was considering gearing 1-2 more characters. What classes would you recommend in terms of how powerful they are and how easy it is to gear them decently? I am considering MM hunter, shaman, monk, or priest. In particular, really love the hunters, so how hard is it to get gear for them? (Druid was super easy.)
[doublepost=1587093663][/doublepost]Oh and most importantly! What are some common ways to obtain transmog for twinks?

lucky dog.

Glad you're enjoying it, its a fun spec.

As for party sync, clear a couple zones of quests. Then, group with someone, mash the "party sync button" in your quest log and go do those quests again. Youll have a chance at a crate, that crate will have a (low) chance at a trinket. Stay in group until you're done questing. Repeating quests has a 24 hour cooldown. And yes, the vers trinkets are worth it.

As for other classes: Resto shaman is one of the best specs in the bracket, and its as easy to gear as your druid. But its also really over played and honestly pretty boring. Monks of all types get some serious hipster cred, MW is an insanely strong healer and is geared just like your druid. Priests are priests. Always have been. And hunters are super fun if you're willing to play survival, and quite powerful but dreadfully boring if you wanna play marks. A little more difficult to gear, too but terribly so. Most of their gear comes from BG crates and/or farming BOE epics.
