New to 29's Class Question.

Syncdots

Grandfathered
So as the title states, I have never played any 29 twinks ever. However I have played 19's extensively, just reading through the forums I see mage is super overpopulated and OP and since I played a 19 mage I am fine with not rolling that.

My question is. how do locks do at 29, because at 19 besides fear they kinda suck. Might be interested in running a lock or druid but if lock dmg is as bad as 19 I will probably move away from that.

Also druids I'm sure are focused mainly on FC but has anyone tried Balance/resto with double dots with insect swarm, moonfire, and if so was the damage super trash or viable?

Any insight would be wonderful on either of the two classes, thank you for your time!

I've seen balance druid builds, but they're mostly for fun. You won't be able to compete with the ranged damage of a hunter without sacrificing 1k health and 1.5k mana. Resto druids are interesting and semi-viable but extremely vulnerable to purge and dispel.

I don't play druid so take this advise with a grain of salt, but I think your best bet as a hybrid class is utility. Stack int/stam and just be versatile, FC when needed, heal when needed, dps when needed (rarely).

Warlocks are good at 29. Their damage is passable, and fear is extremely valuable.

It depends what you want to do. I'd read Shmuckumpoo's guide and then evaluate how you're going to play. Are you mostly solo queueing? Or mostly queueing with a team? Do you want to cap flags? Or be on offense? Or do you not really care about objectives and just want to slay people mid?

IMO, all classes are pretty good--not equal, but all playable in some capacity. If you're solo queue-ing and want to push objectives, I'd make a Mage, Pally or Rogue. If you want to solo queue and just kill people, then make a Hunter or Warrior (or fire Mage, Rogue work, too). If you want to queue as a team, I think anything works, but I think then classes like Priest and Shaman become more fun.

Honestly, I'd avoid both Warlock and Druid. I have a Warlock and a high % of the time I feel like if I were a different class I'd be able to do so much more. When it's all twinks vs all twinks, then my utility shines (Seduce, Fear, Curse of Tongues). But otherwise, I just feel like I'm imitating a squishy, bad hunter/mage hybrid. Druids, you kind of end up in the spot where you have to be a FC, or else you are just a mediocre utility class. And like in 19s, being an FC is way more about knowing terrain exploits and other nonsense than actually playing the class.

The great thing about 29s is that pretty much every twink can be competitive for like 50g. I'd kinda budget it out at first and see if you like whatever you make, then make one once you see what's up in the bracket.

I am on Horde - Herod, this would be a future project as I restarted on this server but atm I would only be solo queing. I just would rather not play a class where 8 our of the 20 people in wsg are my class would rather do something more unique hence no interest in mage rogue or hunter.

I wish more people thought like you and I. I am so sick of seeing at least 5/10 ppl on alliance being dwarf hunter twinks :p

I'd go warlock if I were you it looks a lot more fun than Druid. The only thing with Warlock is that you need to find a bunch of green Shadow Damage gear which could be annoying. Check out the BiS list here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...p2ctWgpi2isQIA2wiLBP3AYpAyY/edit#gid=29471458

Warlocks a great class.
The fear + introduction of seduction makes you a CC god if played well.
You'll be able to apply a heap of healing pressure on the enemies through CC / Curse of Tongues and spread damage DoTs
Downfall is, solo queueing can be rough, you'll never be that guy that can go solo a twinked EFC - so you do rely on having some decent team mates - but solo queueing is still fun, as the class / play style is great :)

I can say playing a 29 twink warlock is quite fun, solo or group que. Depending on your build(glass cannon shadow for me) you add a ton a spread dmg and a ton of burst dmg if you can get some shadow bolt cast followed with shadow burn. I've taken down twinked efcs before solo 1v1 dotting, fear spamming and shadow bolting them down. Using the Voidwalkers sac is a must, saved my butt countless times.

Do you run 5/5 corruption and go destro the rest or full afflic?
And how effective is drain mana?

I have a twink warlock I played probably 80 or so games on. I tried 3 different specs. And Nightfall is probably the best. I also had 7/2/11 and that is fine too. (I am currently spec'd into that because I think it is better for solo Q). But who knows. I really would advise against making a twink warlock unless you have a group to queue with. They are fun, but really are so squishy and not being able to FC as a solo queue can be really disheartening
