What key things make a great player?

From a WSG perspective, controlling and having as much awareness as possible. There's lots of players who are alright at their 'class', but not good at 'wsg'.

All the players that I think are best are the ones who use their moves/CDs intelligently from a WSG perspective and use those well both in micro engagements and in the macro context of the entire map/game.

Be aware of the enemy team comp and watch your raid frames to know who is where. You see a player on your team get cheapshot and SW: P take a look at your map, you now know where 1/5 of the enemy team is that you wouldn't have otherwise known. Especially useful to know where stealthed rogues are -> now you know where to avoid running the flag. You can use this to easily understand how many players are on O and D. If you're an FC you can watch your offense debuffs to understand how many people are left over to even potentially come for you and play accordingly.

You should be using this to know things before they're called/aren't called. You don't need someone to say 'ramp' if the EFC has a dot on them and your lock is ramp. You can see that your FC has 5 debuffs from different classes and no help on the map and know you need to be ready to regrab flag without him saying so.

If you can't find an FC, /tar them. Watch their target of target. When they target a teammate or enemy (especially a teammate), figure out where that targeted person is -> now you know much better understanding where the FC is hiding (somewhere where they can see your teammate).

Mid fight be aware of what you can do to secondary targets, don't tunnel vision your one kill. As an example - SW: P has further range than charge, so I constantly watch to mouseover R1 SW: P warriors mid fight. It's such a small thing that gives a HUGE advantage.

Just generally use all your stuff. If you're a rogue in an important fight I want to see someone sapped, someone blinded, someone stunned and a gouge/kick on an off target heal/CC. If you're a mage I want to see someone sheeped, a melee rooted, another melee slowed, and a healer CSed. Shaman should be watching to cleanse poison allies, frost shock for a peel to help someone else, etc... Every class can do stuff like this, but so few players do anything beyond themselves and their target (except somehow every fucking hunter knows how to do this with viper sting (but not many do it with conc shot)).

Stop using your grenades on the guy your attacking, throw one at an off target to take full advantage of the stun. Use them to stop heals/CC.

Throw your grenade right before FC dies so you can return/grab flag easier.

Don't let your ego get in the way of your play. Who cares if you die, it's WSG, not arena. Don't obsess over your KB/Death ratio. Either side of it.

Instead of chasing a KB you can let your teammates pick up the KB so you get a jump start on the next targets. Care more about your HKs than your KBs.

Purposefully get into losing fights to draw attention away from your team. It's hilarious how often I let people 3v1 me and they start /emoting feeling themselves even though I'm just drawing them away for a free cap for our team. It's not arena, your kills don't matter.
This works especially well vs FCs. Often times FCs get obsessed with getting the flag across, so instead of attacking the FC attack his helpers. Watch as 3 of them chase you and the FC continues on alone or with much less help making it possible for the rest of your team to return.

Be aware of macro timings and shift them in your favor. If both teams are entering tunnels to kill EFC and you just rezzed or are further back in mid, instead of chasing after your team and coming into the fight so late you don't help, help on D and then go O with the next wave, or just charge the enemy group and hamstring everyone. Those seconds you buy hamstringing and distracting OFTEN make the difference for a flag cap vs just trading EFC kills.

It's super helpful to just sap/sheep one guy in a group and run. If it's a group that ends up getting into a fight with your team you've effectively killed one of them.
Be careful doing this vs healers/CC classes. If they end up catching back up mid fight, your team usually won't be aware enough to notice and the healer will get to free cast in the back where they may have actually gotten harassed if you'd left them alone.

Don't blow cooldowns at stupid times. It's insane how many people will bubble/ice block/trinket/vanish/etc... in a 1v6 (or 6v1) when there's not even a flag involved. Take your res/kill and have your CD available for when it actually matters. Same for grenades/potions.
You know how often people will blow trinket on a fear to kill me when I'm at 0% mana right next to my GY? I WANT you to kill me there. Now for the next 5 minutes you can't do shit when I fear you in a fight that actually matters.

Learn player tendencies. Most players follow the same patterns (even if they mix it up, they usually have a 'goto' pattern. If an EFC roof always drops and goes GY, let your whole team go roof while you wait for the drop. Some FCs always do jumps that their team cannot do - use this in your favor to ensure a 1v1 fight instead of the EFC having help.

Not just enemies, learn your teammates tendencies too. Know when you can trust your teammate to CC someone, and when you can't. Know which teammates will ignore an FC running right by, who will give you BoF, who can do which jumps, etc.. Knowing these things can drastically change how you play with different people.

You can definitely purposefully piss people off to make sure they focus you. If you /emote them and take their insignia they will get angry and focus you. This can be very beneficial or very detrimental depending on the situation.

There is so much more to being a good player, it isnt even funny. Baiting, positioning, awareness, and knowledge on every class are probably the main things that make a great player great. All 4 of those words can be elaborated into multiple paragraphs

Playing around yours and your enemy's strengths/weakness's & being aware of your surrounding's are probably the two most important I can think of right off the top of my head
