US 111 - Grinding AP for HOA worth it?

I am currently a 111 warrior with HOA at lvl 63(ilvl 404) and the grind is just terrible now.
Only get 150xp per island expedition and I have over 15k to grind per level..
which means it takes approx 100 island runs(blow my brains out) to grind out 1 lvl or literally days of straight grinding....

Does anyone know is there a faster way to grind this out? or is this even worth it?

EDIT: i am also running 2 followers on all "azerite reward " missions a few times a day and even equiped the followers with the Azerite detector(chance of extra azerite) equipment. Is the max amount of followers a 111 can get 2 or can i get more??

I also do all BFA invasions that reward azerite, 1 time per day.

Sure would help if i could run mythic islands or have wq's (with azerite)

Does anyone know any other way to grind AP at 111? Or is there a way i can unlock WQ or run mythic islands or something else to help acquire more azerite faster?

The main spammable source for azerite has always been IEs. That doesn't mean you need to do them to keep up. I'm about 68.5 HoA (have about 25k left to hit 69) and the number of IEs I've done can be count on the fingers of one hand. I do Faction Assaults, one random dungeon per day, and follower missions (though I use equipment to get extra success chance, not extra azerite). I believe if you've faction changed back and forth you get a total of 3 followers, but I haven't done it so I'm not 100% sure. In the end of the day, there aren't enough azerite missions for you to really need 3 followers.

If I ever feel like getting extra azerite on any given day, I go to Mechagon and kill rares. Each rare gives 100 azerite, once per day.

To be honest, at the HoA level you're at it is not worth it any more to waste time actively grinding HoA levels. It simply takes too long. Just do missions, and whatever you enjoy doing - e.g. faction assaults and mechagon both allow you to engage in WPvP so it's much more fun. Don't burn yourself out on IEs if you hate them - the 2-3 extra stat points you get from an HoA level are not worth the time invested in an activity you don't enjoy. Just do activities that also happen to give azerite, and stop worrying about HoA levels.

Thank you!!! i did not know about this and even if its not as fast as islands its an option to switch it up. And wow 25k for "half" a lvl at 68-69 sheesh lol thats painful.

I just created a 111 twink in the last week (for speed running old dungeons). How are you guys getting this level of your HoA? I've looked around and can't find a good list of sources at low level. Is it just do islands? I didn't think you could unlock Mechagon below 120 so that is good to know. I'm currently finishing up nazmir, then I'll do the other 2 zones for the azerite armor, and I'm sure I'll get a few HoA levels there. But I'm not looking to spend days of /played to get AP. Is there a level where you guys don't see value? I also recall a quest to instantly level your HoA to 35 via magni in silithis is this only for 120's?

Pretty sure that's 120s only. All AP sources for <120 characters are listed in this thread - it should be fairly fast to level up until 60 (since it's 1000/level until mid-50s then slowly ramps up). No magical fast way to do it though, I'm afraid. Do all possible quests, kill all rares in all 6 zones, then do whatever is listed in this thread.

With 8.3 coming out soon I expect the azerite knowledge to kick in again, so it will extend the range of 1000/level to maybe mid-60s, who knows.

Thank you for the information friend! I'll probably level the neck for a while. But with regards to just speed farming old content and not doing PVP there is probably going to be some quick diminishing returns.

i am just curious .. comes shadowland, are they gonna destroy this just like they junk our weapons post legion ? then all your effort just .. gone

The way the Heart of Azeroth was designed, i believe a disabled HOA is just a matter of time, and would end up a stat stick.

Currently the HOA is what activates azerite traits from gear (the pieces themselves only tell which traits can be activated). A disabled neck means deactivated azerite traits. The HOA also activates essences, which are a system beyond what a normal item does. Thus a disabled neck means deactivated essences.

If you grind for essences or azerite traits, then yeah, there could be a point in the future where blizzard is no longer afraid of backlash and just deactivates old artifacts, like they did with legion ones. However even if disabled, the item level of the HOA would remain as is, acting like any other necklace.

The HOA system was designed to be convenient for blizzard, they can instantly disable azerite traits by deprecating the necklace, without having to individually track every single piece and deactivate it's effects. It's just a system build up from the ground up to be easy to activate/deactivate, so the fact blizz might deactivate it after shadowlands is a very real possibility.

I wouldn't invest in a 120/50 twink because the azerite traits/essences would have it's days numbered, and the corruption/cloak traits i'm a bit on the fence - they may be the only thing that remains, due to working by themselves and not being dependant of a special item that blizzard can just switch off.
