EU+US 20 Warlock

My resto druid will do somewhere in the neighborhood of 130-140. I pulled 160 on my resto shaman last night and my warrior hovers in the 120 range.

I believe Blizzard calls that “balance”
There is no point to even mention balance, especially in low levels. They just don't care about it.

I was thinking of making a warlock to, affli probably is very low as people pointed out but i'd love to try demo.
For weapon enchant i guess sp is better then other enchants?
Funny you ask that. I recently compared +7 int vs elemental force on my 19 lock as demo against a dummy and +7 came out ahead.

I'm working on a 29 lock with a affli haste build and it's doing respectable dps. I'll try to post some numbers when it's done.

Ye. id roll sp because it helps with your dps aswell as increasing life drain.

ive been having slight fun with destro.. there's unique stuff that you can use to be useful

-voidwalker as a stealth breaker
-fear as a cast breaker on healers/fear is fear in general
-conflag/chaos chaos or chaos/conflag chaos or chaos conflag chaos chaos as max burst dump
-dot tag on stealth

burst damage is inherently useful, spammable cc is inherently useful, self healing as a dps is inherently useful, dots are inherently useful. it's kind of scraping the barrel to brag about a class "having dots" but, you know, warlocks do have some tools. for example, there's like 2 interupts at 20, kick and shear unless i'm forgetting, so being able to spam cc into a cast is a pretty legit useful thing. especially without doing a quick rejuv tick like polymorph

i'm also flashover gang, i think there's just too many situations, with how strong healing is, that the only useful damage you can do is to build up two 2s cast chaos bolts. to me this bracket is honestly all about how can you play around healers and healing, and that's something that destro is actually kinda good at.

i enjoy it for the reasons i enjoy outlaw- control, self reliance, and a very intentional burst window.

If you play it properly and use Engineering items and other shit to win fights, it can actually be a really strong class... I'd say it's hard to play well, compared to all the no skill rdruids and hunters out there.

bump!

i was curious what the state of warlocks is in 8.2.5. which spec is the best, which one is the most intuitive?
i heard that affliction got buffed a little bit, but I still find myself gravitating towards demo and destro because the rotations seem more fun.

specific questions:
  • is hidden satyr the best option for demo? because of up to 6 imps you can have out all dumping mini-bolts... can summons even trigger hidden satyr? i'm still sitting on +1 vers on neck from draenor expo.
  • aurora seems like best suffix for demo, want to get those demons out asap... am i wrong in assuming this?
  • is haste not as good as it seems for destro? because backdraft cuts the chaos bolt cast time plenty. should i focus quickblade?

thanks for the help in advance

That and affliction dots literally hit for single digits which is a nogo

Pretty much, satyr is king enchant for anyone who wants to do damage

Not super familiar with warlock, but yeah I'd imagine aurora is ideal for demo locks for the reason you mentioned

Again, not totally familiar with warlock, but yeah most destro locks I do see stack crit / quickblade

right? i was just thinking maybe someone out there is shaking things up with extra survivability from a mark of the ancient priestess neck chant
Yeah, only specs that do run priestess is healers more interested in pushing high heal numbers > damage numbers. If there's anything to say about lock is that it probably does have the best survivability of any clothie (excluding healer specs obviously,) since its damage for lack of a better term dogshit you're going to want to max that damage output as much as possible I'd imagine

drain life is good enough to survive brainless arc missile spam, though.

Yup, locks are tanky ass fear bots for the most part (in today's climate, shits always open to changing ofc)

If I was building a warlock, I would stack as much aurora as possible, then aim for like 2k+ hp and then just spam fear / drain life in pugs

my lock is undead. that extra self heal is huge, unless you're caught in a corner of a map with no ally corpses around.

Basically how u play demo is you play to live until your pet burst is up again. So it’s basically spam drain life and fear with a random shadow bolt once in awhile to gain shards. When pet burst is up that’s when you use your shards to summon other pets and you do pretty good dmg that takes a lot of people by surprise.
