How can I tell if an Azerite trait stacks?

I have a new 110 rogue that I've locked xp on, and that I'm just starting to gear. I've read the 110 guide and have chosen two traits for my spec that I want to stack. Of course, I can only get one of those traits where both pieces of gear are 300 because in order to get the 2nd piece at 300, I have to take a path that gives me the other trait's 2nd piece at 285.

So... if neither of them stack in practice, then I'm wasting my time agonizing over which one to prefer. If both of them stack, then I guess it's just a matter of personal preference, which I can't really know in advance which one I'll prefer as a matter of playstyle. But...

If only one of them stacks, I don't currently know how to tell whether that's the case, or even which one it may be.

So, that's my question in a nutshell: how can i tell whether any particular azerite trait stacks without having first to get the two pieces and try them out? Thanks in advance for your helpful replies.

Oh, if it helps, here are the two traits I'm interested in:

Based on the excerpt below from Questionably Epic my guess would be the damage stacks but the extra energy or combo points wouldn't.
Do my traits stack if I get more than one?
Every Azerite trait in the game stacks in some way. The following parts specifically:

  • Damage and healing increases, stat increases.
This also happens to be the part of the trait that scales with item level. On the other hand, the following aspects do not stack:

  • Duration increases, cooldown reduction, proc chances, number of targets, damage taken increases.

The wowhead guide for rogues notes the below confirming that the energy/combo point generation wouldn't stack

It is worth noting that the additional combo points from Shrouded Suffocation, the energy gain from Nothing Personal, as well as the Envenom duration extension from Twist the Knife do not stack with multiple copies of the trait.

As a general rule of thumb, azerite traits that add dmg or healing to a skill stack. However any resource gain or percent chance to trigger something do not stack. To be 100% sure though, you'd need to manually check traits on guides like the one linked.

For example, if a trait has 5% chance to add 100 dmg to a skill, if you stack 3 of these traits you will have 5% chance to add 300 dmg to the skill. Not 15% chance.

I tried the garrote x 3 Azerite pieces and the damage does stack. In PVE the damage is huge (59k), not so much in PVP. It's not mentioned so much, but you can run the 3 BFA dungeons and get an Azerite piece in each. I like to get multiples of each piece before switching to Legion for different setups. I didn't bother with running the quests for all 300 gear though, 285 for the shoulder and neck are fine with me. You can also farm some rares in the broken isle for more 285 pieces.

You can run every single BFA dungeon except the 120-only ones (Siege of Boralus/King's Rest/Mechagon). The ones that don't pop up via the dungeon finder you can manually walk up to and enter, the mobs are scaled down to your 111 level. As a twink you can solo them easily (and if you have trouble for some reason, get 2 weapons with 2x Siphoning enchant and you'll be fine then).

The only boss you can't solo off the top of my head is the 2nd-to-last in the Shrine of the Storm since he resets when he MCs you. You can however skip him (or maybe get creative with pets/npc-spawning trinkets to avoid the MC reset).

As a 110, can you enter them?

I haven't tried. However, if you can enter the 3 dungeons available to your faction via the dungeon finder at 110, I don't see why you can't enter the other 4.

If you're Horde, just head down to the docks in Dazar'Alor and try entering the MOTHERLODE. That'll answer your question. As Alliance, you'll probably have to travel a bit farther to test.

Motherlode shows a chest and head piece for my 110 in the adventure guide, hmm...
