A Conversation that's time is due

Oh look, another Mass Shooting in Merica, this time in Texas with a whole bunch of dead people. Strange, there wasn't a single 'Good Guy with a Gun' to stop this Bad Guy from killing all those people.

Ok, /bait paragraph. In my opinion, the true issue at hand is that the average Low and Middle Class Citizen in Merica is becoming so stressed out due to rising Inflation, reduction/removal of needed Social Services, removal of Jobs (outsourcing to 3rd World Nations, Machines, etc) that they are snapping at an unprecedented rate. Having access to Guns just makes their job of killing people en mass that much easier.

"Taking Guns away" clearly isn't the answer, at least not as a generalized topic, due to how many Guns there are out in circulation. Even if 100% of Law abiding Citizens turned in 100% of their Guns, there would still likely be millions of Guns in Merica, but all in the hands of Criminals at that point. Further limiting access to certain types may help but I doubt it'll truly solve the greater issue.

Being honest, I think the Conversation we need to have is what to do about our Government who is the route of the problems our Poor and Middle Class (if there even is a Middle Class anymore) are facing. What are your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, etc? Lets have the Conversation that Conservatives in Merica outright refuse to have.

I believe that literally* every single American citizen should have the right to carry a weapon, and said weapon should be provided by the US government.

All jokes aside, alienating our rights by taking guns away is a terrible idea. I'm really not educated enough to involve myself in a conversation like such, nor have I read your entire post, but I do believe that we need more guns in airports, educational environments, shopping malls, etc.

RIP to all of the unfortunate people that got PVP'd IRL

Its sketchy topic, i live in a state where there rare as hell and own 3. Ar/handgun/shotgun.
it depends what state some like ny requires a backround check not that crazy tho.

The united states is a really unique culture surrounding guns.

i dont agree with open carrying

But heres the thing if you enter a scenario where there is a mass shooter and everyone else in the area has a gun, how do you know who to shoot, how do you know which one of these 50 people in a mall with a gun is the mass shooter or another shooter trying to shoot the mass shooter?

Its sketchy topic
And a difficult one to have, but I think we're at the point in Merica where we need to discuss it, BOTH sides. Currently it's completely one sided and unfortunately that side fights with itself on what the best option is also. It's kind of a lose/lose situation until we all stand United and willing to listen to the valid points the other side is making.

Usually people I’ve seen advocate for more gun control don’t believe those with guns should have them all taken away, but more background checking should be performed, which I 100% agree with. A weapon should not be as easily obtainable as they are currently.

If you’re mentally stable enough to pass a background check to own a weapon/weapons, stricter gun control should have absolutely no affect on you and your rights.

This is the direction I lean. I'd also like to see a waiting period to purchase ALL Guns, even if it's only 3 days. You can cool down a lot in 3 days from some horrible shit that happened to you today where it makes you want to buy a Gun and murder people.

That said, I don't think any amount of tighter restrictions will solve the issue we face today, nor does people saying "take all the Guns away". I'm still of the firm belief it's due to the worsening living conditions facing Merica today and the stress involved with that. Granted that's a much deeper problem to fix and I'm not even certain how to go about it tbh.

As someone that lives across the pond in the land of polar bears and maple syrup, taking guns away won't solve the issue. The saying "Where there is a will there is a way" applies here and these individuals that are planning to carry out these horrible acts will continue to do so. In my personal life I've never met anyone that personally owns a gun, let alone many that have fired one, but there are still local shootings, or other acts of violence on others (not to this degree fortunately); hell I've even had someone I've grown up with and known that was shot and killed over stupid nonsense.

Taking away one vehicle for the violent act won't stop the act from happening because unfortunately weapons come in all shapes and sizes. The news is so depressing these days.

The idea that there’s worse living conditions in America today is a media created fantasy. Living conditions are the best they’ve literally been.

Now, are some bitter because they think it’s worse because evil people like bernie and Pocahontas lie and say it is and then useful idiots like you repeat it because you completely lack critical thinking skills? Yes and that’s a problem. Shame we have demagogues and their useful idiots.

I think concentrating on gun control misses the point. And as one of the few gun owning leftists in America, I'm pretty generally opposed to the idea of gun control anyway. There is no law you can write that will not be unevenly enforced against poor and minority communities. Denying those communities the right to defend themselves (and yes, hunt and entertain themselves as well) isn't gonna do anyone any good.

What we do have is an evaporated upward mobility and an increasingly obvious plague of alienation and isolation. Our communities have become atomized and people are increasingly, desperately lonely. There's a lack of connection and mutual support. A lot of that is inherently built into an economic system that sees the resources of a society continually leeched off the labor of the workers and hoarded by a select few. The workers not only become alienated from the product and value of their labor, alienating them from the bulk of their waking life, but they also become alienated from one another. We aren't working together, but rather placed in direct competition with each other.

Our communities obviously suffer from this. The more people work and the more they don't see the results of that work the more difficult it becomes to not withdraw from a society that offers you so little now and so little hope for a future. Most of these guys shooting up our public spaces are "failure to launch" types, stuck working demeaning, dead end jobs. They are unlucky in love, unlucky in life and lack any measure of societal support system to help them through those bleak times.

Restructuring our society in ways that revalue labor, revalue work, and give people time to engage in their communities will go a long way. Empowering workers to have a bigger say in how their labor is directed and where the profits their labor generate are spent will do more to built social cohesion and solidarity, by way of simply making working life feel more impactful and rebuilding a communal understanding of society. It provides a meaningful plan forward and realistic future for society, rather than staring at a world that is slowing crumbling as fucking peter thiel and elon musk build their compounds for the climate catastrophe end days.

Until and unless we regain some sense of societal solidarity, we will continue to see isolated young men who were promised the future, but shown a barren wasteland, taking that frustration out on people they see as an enemy, whoever those people may be.

So things aren't worse today for the Low and Middle Class? Take a look at the lifestyle that Families in Merica had in the 50's, 60's and early 70's (BTW, we didn't have Mass shootings every day back then). Families could afford a Home on 1 Income. They had a new Car (or 2), took Vacations yearly, had great Health Care which didn't Bankrupt you and had disposable Income. Now look at today, almost nobody can afford a Home even with both Parents working well paying Jobs, Health Care is so expensive (not just the Premiums, the Deductibles, Lifetime out-of-pockets, etc), few can afford a new Car, even fewer even know what a Vacation is and hardly anyone has disposable Income.

Berating me because you think I'm some Bernie cuck doesn't solve the very real problem Merica is facing today. How about you add to the conversation with something that would help the situation hmm.

whats more important

because of this antifa brainlet incel chimping out

they will now probably shut down 8ch

smh
Lolwut?

They were ganked let's be real. I'm from the UK and it's absurd to me all y'all normies can legally carry. We almost never have mass shootings here learn from us.

What dude take it from you guys? look what happend with brexit lmao, and how does having more freedom to do things make US people "normies". We have a larger spectrum.. people on all sides of it. While you guys dont really nearly as much, seems more sheltered.

The Uk and US have completley different outlooks on that anyway, UK has mad knife violence i know because thats one of the few places ive been cut, in a club to. they cant carry so they all carry small shanks. I know the deal very well in london

I agree if you can navigate through the bullshit things are great, but theres alot of bullshit to navigate through and alot of people are sheep

Talking about gun control is problematic enough, but doing it on a twinking forum?

I can't imagine this thread will be productive at all, let's see though.

Instead of controlling your 'guns', why don't we control your 'gums'.

All love though <3

*waits*

UK has way better violent crime rates than you. Even London has better rates than NYC for example, and I do not pretend London isn't going through its worst crime wave this century with stabbings.
