PTR Party sync and max levels in low level bg's

Zirano

Bitch stop crying
So while everyone else is thinking of the possibilities of the repeatable quests from party sync, I have a much bigger worry in mind, and that is my worry for how it will affect the different twink brakcets.

Party sync allows higher level players (there is no level cap listed, so I am assuming any level can que with anyone) to que for instanced content with lower level players, including bg's.

So they state that the higher levels will be scaled down to the appropriate level and lose abilities for the levels they lost. But my concern is about how they will scale, will you be scaled to the upper level (19,29,39 etc) or will you be scaled to the same level as the person you're queing with.

I am also worried about what kind of ilvl a fully pve geared 120 would be scaled to in the lower level brackets.

some discussion already in the mmochamp autopost thread but we will have to wait to see. Doesn’t seem like it’s been loaded out on ptr yet but it will be very soon

If they can scale you down and make you lose skills, they can scale you up and give you skills.

I hope this is all coming back to a system similar to Legion's PvP templates, but better.
Effectively removing any differentiation between levels and nullifying the entire leveling process and sense of progress

It's a garbage decision

How I read it makes it sound like only the higher level will be affected and the lower levels will stay as if they qued alone, this is just how I understood it tho.
And yeah i completely agree, the pvp part of this system sounds like garbage and I hope it gets scrapped before it ever reaches the live servers.

Edit: entire system > pvp part of the system :^]

The new twinking will be outfitting a 120 with op proc gear, multiboxing with a 19 toon and queing wsg.

The 10v10 matches will be filled with toons that are "afk" serving as anchor toons for the 120s.

just dont accept queue on the lowbie lmao. level 1 toon for each bracket for when you wanna switch it up lol

There is a big gameplay gain in scalling everyone to a bracket's max level and giving all respective skills.

It evens playfield, makes some classes more viable (Ex. Frost Mage's don't have basic rotational procs at 20) and hastens gameplay for people that are only leveling. Also, makes easier to understand which is the toolkit of a class in any given bracket.

I believe this might be enough to provide more balanced matches, even if we still get significant gear advantage - of course, this is just theorycraftin' until we can properly test it on the PTR.

Honestly, I hope some bean counter looks at it and says "wait, if let low level toons and high level toons play the same content without any hassle, we remove the inventive for said low level toon to buy a level boost" and they just scrap the whole thing

Is this on the ptr rn to test ?
not yet, maybe with tomorrows maintenace they will deploy

"A new content update for World of Warcraft is in development and will soon be available on the Public Test Realms (PTR). While not all features will be fully functional and available for testing, here’s a look at some of the new content coming in this version."

I'll tell you right now, nobody is scaling up. It removes any point in leveling and the fact you think it's a "big gameplay gain" is laughable.

Likely just at a cap, saying it wont be worse than 32 (epic) ilvl at lvl 20 no matter your ilvl at endgame... maybe not tho.

This. They aren't going to give you abilities you don't have, just gray out ones you lose.

Do higher levels keep their enchants, etc?

What makes them different than a twink at that point?
