PTR Interesting....

I never claimed to know what was going to happen, infact nobody knows what will/or wont happen I've said it multiple times in my posts "Safe to assume" "My guess" "Most likely" I'm sorry that your taking everything anyone says in the completely wrong way :(

Thanks for admitting you have no clue, its the first step.

Unfortunately blizzard don’t seem to have the brains/motivation to bring in a more creative solution that works for their substantial twinking community.

What?!?!?

News flash, twinks are a minority of a minority of the overall player population. There is NO substantial twinking community. And the twinking community is in turn divided into two sub-communities. Those are the community of twinks who desire and enjoy competitive and challenging PvP and the community of twinks who desire nothing more than to face stomp levelers. And guess which of those two sub-communities is in the minority?

Just in case you don't know the answer. The smallest of the sub-communities is the group of twinks who desire competitive and challenging PvP. This can be easily demonstrated by looking at the queue times for battle grounds by those twinks that don't exploit their way into the XPON battle ground queues.

Don't like the queue times? The queue times isn't because "Blizzard is causing it". The observed queue times is because the community is too small to support shorter queues. That's evidence right there that you don't have a viable population for your community. And for the toxic larger sub-community who only want to face stomp levelers, you're causing Blizzard a major problem. Namely encouraging players to leave World of Warcraft due to an unpleasant experience. And this is a major problem since it REDUCES BLIZZARD'S INCOME. So if they have to change things so that a few hundred players are no longer able to use their desired play style, therefore encouraging them to unsubscribe while at the same time making things far more pleasant for thousands of other players who will now retain their subscriptions whereas they would have otherwise unsubscribed, then their choice is obvious. Kill the twink community. But prior to killing the twink community (which has been a PROBLEM since Vanilla), Blizzard has attempted to do things that would both satisfy both the twink and non-twink PvP communities. They are:

Patch 3.2.0 - Cause battle grounds to grant XP while at the same time offering a NPC to turn off XP. This also gave Blizzard an easy method of distinguishing between the two communities and thereby splitting the battle ground queues, so those twinks that "desired challenging PvP" could engage in the activity that they "claimed" they desired.
Patch 7.0.3 - Gear in Battle grounds replaced with templates. Battle grounds merged.
Patch 8.1.5 - Battle grounds split again.

If you look at the overall timeframe for WoW, you'll realize that the amount of time where the battle grounds have been split and the amount of time where the battle grounds have been merged is roughly equal. And Blizzard has expended quite a bit of effort to satisfy both the twink and non-twink communities. But there are limits. And if Blizzard comes to the conclusion that their effort in keeping the twink community happy is wasted effort as evidenced by the exploit many twinks are using to enter XPON battle grounds, then they just may decide to do what they did as regards keeping Paladins in Alliance and Shaman in Horde, while attempting to balance both classes against each other. Namely figuratively throw their hands in the air and say "Fuck it". For the classes of Paladin and Shaman, their solution was to allow both classes in both factions. For twinks, it's all too likely that there solution will be to eliminate twinks entirely. Remember, you are a minority that have been causing a lot of problems for the greater Warcraft community and because of this, threatening Blizzard's bottom line. They are all to likely to look at that bottom line, look at the relative number of players in each sub-community, and cut out the toxic portion of the community.

I gotta ask, man...

You've been retyping this same teary eyed, mouth frothing screed for like 3 months. Why havent you just pasted it into a word document and hit that ctrl+c, ctrl+v action? It would save you a lot of time.

I mean some people that did the xp pot bug got banned for over a month, on avg it was 2-3 weeks that's pretty severe. And this bug is a lot more severe then that one so its safe to assume they will be equal or greater to that since this one doesn't just affect 1 person

BG glitching doesnt really have an impact on the game like the xp pot exploit. You dont get anything out of it.. you lose 20g. My prediction is that nothing happens it doesn't get fixed, no one gets banned. The best fix for this issue is releasing Classic.

someone on your team gets screwed out of XP and a BG crate if your team wins.

that said, I imagine itll eventually get a fix but I wouldnt anticipate any bans.

Is that really "impactful" in the grand scheme of leveling? If they fix the bg glitch then the next stop is f2p.

I agree though, if it gets fixed there will be no bans.

thats a common refrain but Im unsure as to the reasoning, considering there are blue posts confirming trial accounts are supposed to que with levelers.

Unless by "f2p" you mean "vet" in which case, yea. I imagine thatll change in due time.

Sorry I always get the f2p vs vet mixed up, I am referring to vet. My reasoning is the same argument made about bg glitchers, it ruins the experience for levelers in the 20-29 bracket. Once glitching is turned off most people will probably have no choice but to roll vet accounts (myself included) which will impact the 20s bracket even more.

I still ultimately think nothing happens before Classic.

Im probably completely wrong on everything. I after all did say I would never get banned for bot farming foam spittle, and I did. so....

Hard agree

I think in the next xpac-ish we'll see vets start to bank XP like F2P, coupled with the full removal of the XP npcs. Starter account twinks will be the last holdouts, outside of Goldshire heroes from various brackets.

Not trying to be all nihilistic and shit but I think BFA might be last ride of twinking in WoW.

I didn't say that twinks are not a minority, I said its a substantial community (and a fairly engaged one, based on the existence of this website).

And no, they have not put a lot of effort into satisfying the twink and non-twink communities. Splitting, then merging over and over again is not going to produce a different solution. It didnt work the first time so why should it work this time. Im sure with some pretty simple algorithms, they could find a way of organising the teams dynamically based on win/loss ratios, gear, premade groups etc. Whether they are motivated to find a creative solution is another story.

The biggest problem is people from within the community petitioning blizzard against other twinks. If you look at the bigger picture, I will likely backfire on everyone.

Only if by "engaged", you mean "overly entitled and annoying". Blizzard originally have experience off in battle grounds and honestly, I suspect that they never expected twinks. But people being people, found ways to gain an advantage over others and the twinking community was created. And afterwards, twinking became a steadily increasing problem for the greater community of players until finally during WotLK, Blizzard came up with a "solution" that gave Blizzard a means of splitting off the twink community from the general player population. And during Legend, they tried a different approach by using templates to try to merge the twinks back into the general population. And decided during BFA to split the community again. How this qualifies as "Splitting, then merging over and over again..." totally escapes me. But perhaps English isn't your first language. In addition, your statement mentioning "pretty simple algorithms" illustrates your denial of the fact that your community is a minuscule minority of the player population. In order to be as selective as you indicated, Blizzard would have to have a substantial population upon which to sort and select from. And that population DOES NOT EXIST.

you're kidding right? Designing what you just described would take months and multiple engineers. All in effort to please a large group of people who now dont even pay to play the game?

No, not kidding, they created WOW, i'm sure they could quite easily find a creative solution. They have a few engineers on the books I'm sure. Im not saying it's a weekends work at all, but by blizzards standards it's probably not difficult. Who knows, they might actually start to grow the community.

To reinvigorate and re-balance low level pvp would be a smart move for them, especially given how much fun the beta testers are having playing pvp in Classic WOW.

They tried stat emplates - didnt work, tried splitting the population - didn't work twice, perhaps its time to try something else.

I love fun, balanced and close games. Its not at all fun to be on a team thats camping the graveyard. It would be great to just queue up on a character any level or equipment level and for it to be competitive both ways.

You're probably right, sadly.

Obviously you dont work in any kind of dev environment. You cant just pull engineers off to work on a new feature like that. Especially for something that has such a small player base. How many active twinks do you think there are? I would be willing to guess it's less than 1000. Why would a project manager commit significant resources for such little pay out?

I am 100% sure it’s more than 1000.

Let’s not assume either of us know about their development priorities.

I’m merely saying they are failing to nurture an area of the game that brings a lot of people joy.

Also, starting to create new competitive avenues for pvpers should be a higher priority. The fact that the top ranked players twitch accounts are swarming with classic content videos shows that they are open to other forms of gaming. I’m sure that it’s gets a bit boring for the rank one guys facing each other all the time in arena.

With the growth of esports, a focus on pvp might help them.

Just my $.2
