EU+US How to not fall into Depression after not getting a MH as a rogue

Grandfathered
Have you done your quests and the RNG god has denied you happiness? Have GFed gear or just too lazy to reroll? Poor af so you cant afford a 800k Pale Skinner? Well no worries, for I am here to save you.
Step 1: buy or get two epic daggers.
Step 2: Since outlaw only needs a sword to use Dispatch, make weapon switching macros tied into your abilities.
It should look like this
#showtooltip Sinister Strike
/equip NameOfDagger (you can shift+click your dagger if your too lazy to type)
/cast Sinister Strike
Do it for pistol shot as well, and another for Dispatch using a bg sword or whatever best MH you have.
Step 3: Your done! Just replace your abilities with your macros and now you are a Double Dagger Outlaw, your special!
PSA: You will have to spam your macros a bit to use it cuz weapon switching isnt instant or whatever. It also isnt as great as just having a MH since you wont have the 4.4 weapon dmg for Dispatch, but your AAs and regular abilities wont suffer for having a dagger, they get better!

Tldr just reroll n dont be a casual like OP

Idk about current patch just because im unlucky with the epics but before this patch honestly i only found that weapon swapping only really was worth it for vibroblade buff (as a 29 rogue). My 19 rogue hasnt started questing yet but ill do some tests once i find my epic mh

4.4 weapon dps is pretty big compared to 3.7 imo. and it lessens the pain of not having a MH :'(

EDIT: See later comments

The dps of the weapon isn't too important, its the weapon damage that your skills scale off of.

Any ilvl 25 mace/axe/sword/fist (ex shadowfang, theif's blade, BG crate axe, etc): 7-12 damage (avg 9.5)
Bronze shortsword (ilvl 24): 6-11 damage (avg 8.5)
Epic dagger (ilvl 31): 6-10 damage (avg 8)

Note that the avg number will be the same for the ilvl generally, but axes might have a wider range (6-13 for example).

So for your mainhand - you still wouldn't want a dagger. A scaled shadowfang is BiS. A theif's blade (DM) or butcher's cleaver (SFK) are way easier to get and still pretty good mainhands. Bronze shortsword is still better and takes no time at all to get.

Alternatively, https://www.wowhead.com/item=1958/petrified-shinbone seems to be a very common drop and common upgrade. It has no agility, but will let you case dispatch.

I haven't played with the numbers to see where it fits, but it might be an option - but should be way easier to farm, and anyone farming foreman might get them as drops. Might be pretty cheap since prot warr/pally isn't really viable.
My tooltip dmg is higher with a dagger though

Which dagger? It might have enough agility to make it worth it. Though I don't think it would beat a scaled shadowfang.
Jeweled dagger vs a Bg weap with 3 crit 2 vers. Just tested vs Vito, jeweled dagger sinister did 73 and bg weap did 71
[doublepost=1557543561,1557543171][/doublepost]I think they changed it to scale off of weapon dps instead of weapon dmg

I doubt it. Guessing the dagger's extra agility overcomes the difference for SS. I'll try to remember to take a look when I can, but I'm not at home right now.

well its only 1 extra agil, and i lose out on 2 vers switching to it. and i still get 2 extra dmg, so its 100% weapon dps now. and the tooltip increases all the same for other abilities. 15 extra dmg for dispatch, tho i cant use the dagger with dispatch hence this thread. Also 3 vers = 1 agil right? just tested it with a 3 vers bg weapon (which is 3.7 dps, 6-13 dmg) and the result is still the same, dagger is better

Well fuck...wrote up a whole post about this and then accidentally closed the tab and lost it. Sigh...

Anyways - looks like you're right. Weapon Damage got completely removed from the equation (other than as a function of dps) for all abilities in BfA. Heres the final (approximate) formula for SS after cleaning it up a bunch.

Code:
Damage = 0.45279 * (MainhandWeaponDPS  + AP) * 6 * (1 + Verse)

It looks like almost every physical ability uses that formula except the first number is different (and obviously talents/azerite/offhand/etc can come into play). AskMrRobot uses the average range from weapon damage to speed up calculations - I'm not sure what WoW does internally.

For reference: https://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/theory/mechanic/spell/sinisterstrike?spec=RogueOutlaw&version=live

So...that fucks with a lot of my knowledge assumed from legion and means I need to update guides. For 19 it isn't a huge deal since 1h vs daggers is the only place this comes up, but this may actually make slow 1h in the 29+ brackets not as important (though slow weapons are still better for PPM enchants).

Weapon Damage is dead, Weapon DPS is king. Long live the king.
