Curious about level squish thoughts...

i want level squish for my selfish f2p / vet reasons. i just hope f2p cap stays at 20 after the squish, otherwise its all meaningless
I would fully expect some shit like...

Blizz: we squished levels, enjoy!
F2P: Holy shit, I have access to everything through Burning steppes now! *levels to 20*
Blizz: Oh shit, we didnt think of that. F2P cap is now 5
F2P: womp womp there goes my toon

Extremely plausible scenario.

My advice (learned the hard way) is never to assume that a carefully twinked char has become useless and level it up. There was a time (WotLK or maybe Cata, don't recall) when Blizz made some big change and 19 BGs just stopped popping completely. After a while I levelled my 19s to 24 because 20-24 was the *only* active bracket. Not long after that real life happened and I stopped subbing and the 24s were out of reach. D'oh x)

Anytime Blizz does stuff like that, it's way safer just to make new chars and see what happens.

Sounds like MoP.

Yeh, MoP pre-patch or actual MoP.

Regardless, Blizzard is aware of an xpoff playerbase (else why implement the functionality to begin with?), and they have to respect that. So how they would implement it, and how it would affect gameplay overall is a huge concern. Endgame will most likely be unaffected. For endgame it'd just be different numbers on the screen.

My advice is always to just make new characters, there is rarely raaaarely any point to leveling up a twink to go to another bracket, i have done it back in classic, because leveling was a bish anyway, but these days, nah. tbf i only have or two char slots left on two accounts, but i heard they are changing it to allow more on the same server right? like 50 per account but you can have all 50 on the same server.

It's going to change gearing/meta 100%.

More quest means more epics better gear option more theorycrafting equals more fun

Exactly. If everything is squished, its possible more vanilla zones become available around levels 10-20. Could gives us a lot more tries at useful items.

Not only that more skills etc may make more classes or specs viable

@Purj Sure more quests are gonna be available, but i'd hardly get excitied before u even know what you'll be squished to and what the brackets will be

Starter Edition accounts have been around since what? the start of the game?
And the level cap has always been 20. So I doubt will get squished.
Everything good starts @ 20. Allied races. Mounts etc.
I believe us 20s are out of the hot water but idk about 19s.
19 twinks are iconic ASF tho. Blizzard dressed up the exp eliminator as a 19 twink. They wont completely throw the baby with the bath water.

If they squish as hard as they said they were thinking about (halving the levels) then starter accounts and allied races and mounts and all that would presumably become level 10 with a cap at 10. I'd assume. As as long as they hold true to "we're not gonna change your ilvl or reduce your abilities, we're just halving the levels so each level feels special" then Im 100% cool with it.

But what happens if starter account cap stays at 20? do I level and hope they dont go "oops, we meant to keep that at ten"? Would that mean I'd lose access to my toon OR would that mean I'd have a grandfathered f2p 20? ITS ALL SO CONFUSING!

19s though. Theyd become what... level 9? Assuming again that they halve everything, BGs would start at lvl 5 (again, assuming here) so I think theyd be safe. But what happens if Blizzard decides to be "kind" in their rounding and round up on people levels. Do 19s become 10s as well?
