New to twinking 99 Rogue

Hello, I am new to twinking and have decided I will try it out on my 99 assassination rogue. I did a little research and could not find any specific guides, and the armory list doesn't have good up to date rogues.
  • Gearing I plan on doing WoD dungeons for now.. is there any specifics I should que for?
  • Is there a way to find and filter gear so I can build my own gear list easily?
  • Which enchants would I want.
  • (Least important question) I have no max character on this server is there any low level farms that could help with my gold income?

There's only 3 dungeons you can run, none of them drop daggers so it really just depends on which you enjoy most.

Build a dwarven bunker or warmill in your garrison too. Then look up the rares and treasures for each zone and try getting any of those you're after to proc epic, it can save you some dungeon runs and you can do it between pops.

Make sure you enchant everything before March 12, that's when the patch is supposed to hit and it'll all bump up too high. The enchants are whatever you can get from the auction house, go take a look... best I can think of are 13 agi to bracer, minor speed or blurred speed to boots, glorious stats or +20 vers to chest. There's leg armors, belt buckles, and shoulder inscriptions too, but you might decide that MoP raid gear is better for those (if you can get run) due to the gem slots - and that gear will remain 130 after the patch, no rush.

Landslide is the best weapon enchant, but it wont go on your artifact or the ilvl 150 vendor weapons from your order hall. The ilvl 152 enchants can go on your artifact if you haven't put any relics in it yet, but if you have then it's just endgame enchants left... I really don't know whats best for those, you can google it or just decide what you think you'd prefer.

If you get any epic dagger procs from WoD quests or treasures/rares then i'd go landslide, like I said. Lots of AP. Same with outlaw weapons, in case you want to swap specs. I don't think there's any reason to loot-spec assassination in the dungeons, maybe set your loot to outlaw and hope for a lucky epic 1h drop. You can always just buy the 150 1hs from the order vendor too, but it wont accept 136 enchants and those are best. Anything you'll use 150+ enchants on isn't priority.

Raid gear isn't changing at all, as far as I know.

edit- oh, and on that note, OP - don't get too hung up on epic dungeon drops, if you get a blue that has the secondary stats you want it will likely be better than any epic with the wrong stats. The blue gear is going to 142. Epic just 149.

Like 1-2 points difference between them. No big deal. It's getting the enchants on them before patch that matters.

Thanks for all these tips man it is exactly what I need a good start! Ill do what I can before March 12th. RNG gods bless me! I changed my loot spec to outlaw like you said.

Good to keep in mind thanks!
[doublepost=1551658512][/doublepost]Ok so Ive been doing WoD rares and picking up rare items in WOD but even the epic procs are ilvl 136 will these increase with the next patch like the dungeon ones?

Otherwise I feel like I should just focus on raids, and WOD dungeons.

Yes, all the WoD normal dungeon drops will be 136 now but are supposed to go up with the new patch. Blues to 142 and epic to 149. Even the treasures and loot from rares out in the world follow those upgrades on the PTR now.

edit- here's a pic I made for a different thread, not the same item but you can compare 142 to 149. Pics from the PTR.

Both are item level 136 on live. (and enchanted before copying the toon over, too high to take them on the PTR)

Awesome Im gonna keep working on these items then.. what items do we want from legion since they are much higher ilvl? Any piece we cant enchant I imagine?

Legion items are actually lower ilvl except artifact weapons. 141 dungeon drops, right? Legion isn't changed on the PTR.

Cloaks, rings, and necks shouldn't matter because the best enchants for those slots are mostly 152+ anyway (except a few cloak) and trinkets don't matter either because they don't get enchanted. WoD necks and rings all have main stat on them tho, so you can choose to go for that or larger secondary stats with the legion jewelry. All that can be after the patch tho.

From the pic I added, you can see what I mean about the wrong secondary stats - if I want vers/mastery then im definitely using the blue boots over the epic ones. Makes sense, right?
[doublepost=1551662684,1551662555][/doublepost]Even the "best" BoE epic legion items for level 99 are only 151 ilvl… I guess if you get epic procs the other legion gear will be too, but the problem is that they are never ilvl 136 to begin with so no 136 enchants. The enchants are the big deal.

I'll double check the PTR tonight to see if anything happened to legion stuff, I haven't been on the PTR in a while.

Yes. So far on my assassination rogue, I'm doing all mastery and crit.
I know assassination needs haste for regen too so I might be building wrong. There doesn't seem to be many rogues in this bracket not sure.

I honestly don't know how much better a haste build will be than a crit, I've personally not ever been a fan of haste. I don't think it will break your rogue to gear it how you want instead of "optimized"... most of your opponents are gonna just be using whatever they can get their hands on anyway. You should be fine.

Checked the PTR and all seems the same. Took a pic of an item in the dungeon journal for Nelths lair... ilvl 141.

Glorious stats enchant for chest, shouldn't be too expensive.
There's 15 agility or 17 attack power to gloves that should be "better" than mastery.
13 agility to wrist, but I wouldn't put in on those wrists unless you don't get anything else.
Armors for legs can be real expensive too, you can always get some siege of orgrimmar socket legs down the road.
Shoulders are kind of the same deal as legs, both raid pieces should stay at 130 and be enchantable later.

The legion belt you get for finishing a zone (valshara or aszuna, I think) is 160 and has crit/mastery, so don't worry about a different one unless you want to try other stats. Buckles for a gem slot on your belt can be pretty expensive too, and probably wont be any better.

That's the short list, looking decent. The weapons situation is what it is, if you cant get landslide x2 I really wouldn't worry too much about it, you can just do the best you can with the artifact. No worries. BoA gear will only be 139 but you can put landslide on them on a completely different server and just mail them to that one.

BoA will be 139
WoD blue 142
WoD epic 149
Legion artifact around 158-160? I don't know now, I did them all in legion.

If you don't score epic WoD daggers, i'd just put the landslide gold toward something else. BoA is close to WoD blue.

Not a hard list, just suggestions. Good luck!

To be honest, I really don't know. I've not found them as good as advertised in any sub-110 bracket myself.

I'm trying to get mine grandfathered up simply cuz he looks sick (artifact transmogs). I love rogues, I just don't get as much out of them as other classes... I used to. Now everything seems miles ahead, overall. Kill sniping is great tho.

BTW, you're kind of late to the party on gearing - only a week to get grandfathered. Hurry! Mine is so far behind...

(by the by, the proc on windfang sabre sucks. figures... :()

Scaling screwed us is all. I had lots of 99 BoE that's kind of "useless" now. Ah well.

Once the patch hits maybe its value will go up again, since it'll be "best available" gear. :D

edit- I think I remember vids of your warrior soloing nelths lair back in legion. I know you have lots.
