BiS lvl 79 twink gear guide

That makes total sense, I was noticing how the bonuses shift between static and proc stats. Does seem like mail wearers have the best of both worlds though. I loathe giving up BiS pieces for the 4 piece on my war, but the proc is so good. I know some people go 2 piece spellfire and 2 piece mana etched, I wonder how 2 piece frostweave plays in to that build?

You mean wrath of spellfire set? I actually wasn't aware of it, that's not a bad choice. It is however a 3-set bonus, and you lose 1 socket from the chest piece, and you are forced to use the mana etched head and shoulders - the set helmet is notably worse than the non-set alternative. That said, using again my mage selfbuffed with wizard oil and arcane brilliance has 772 Int, which would translate to 54 SP, which is not too shabby and probably worth the tradeoff.

There aren’t enough slots to fit 3-piece wrath of spellfire, 2-piece mana etched and 4-piece frostsavage.

Edit: And yeah, mail wearers have it best - just about all the set pieces are themselves BiS disregarding the bonus, and the one piece that isn't (legs) has what is probably the best itemised gear at 79 - the Wyrmscale Greaves.

Yup just got the god greaves on my Shaman after using your trick where the high level logs and only twinks down the boss. 6 runs I think to get the chest + greaves. Then went over to BM and used the same trick and got the helm in about 7 runs. Trying for shoulders tonight, so far it's been a huge boon for the equip phase!
[doublepost=1546647112,1546645239][/doublepost]Been noticing a lot of twinks with the same shoulder enchant as this character which appear to give 9 ap / 7 crit. I can't find any shoulder enhancements anywhere with those numbers. There's overall very little info on what 79s can work with but it looks like you could go cata inscription to get a pretty nice profession only one, but otherwise we're stuck with Scryer/Aldor. So i'm quite keen to find out where these 9/7 ones are from, any idea?

That's my hunter, it's just the profession-only Northrend Inscription enchant. it's super easy to level up, and is a stopgap until I bother leveling Aldor and SSO to exalted for the neck.

Ok sweet, so if it's a stopgap does that mean it doesn't come out to 9/7 in game and is worse than Skryer/Aldor? Or do you just run inscription until you hit exalted and then pick another prof? Also, can we get the proprietary inscription from cata?

It's better that Scryer/Aldor, but hogs up a profession slot. If you don't really want other professions, it's a good choice. Once you get the Aldor exalted for an Agi/Str class though, the necklace 100 mainstat proc is great, and at that point you can try different professions (or keep Inscription if you want, of course).

Awesome. On that note I have been considering the 'tanky' neck from SSO with the 100 haste proc for my war but the self heal from the BoA neck is haaard to give up on a war. Easier choice on a Shaman who has tons of self healing - I'm loving the pendant on him.

Trinket section is now added and a work in progress. I would appreciate if you guys have a look and tell me what I missed, haven't really spent much time on it yet.

The trinket section is shaping up nicely. There were a couple on there I hadn't seen before, very cool. If the duration/CD information was present it would be extremely useful, but as is, unless you really know them, you have to dig deeper one by one. Proc chance is harder to totally pin down, but maybe comparative info could be listed. For instance I've been liking the hourglass because it has that nice 12s duration and I think 1 min CD. Not BiS but it's good to always hunt for surprises.

Yeah, I honestly don't have the patience or desire to figure out ICDs and proc rates for the trinkets. I figure that the list will at least give people a few solid options, and you can always check wowhead's comments to see if anyone tested them.

I have yet to go through most quest reward trinkets in Northrend and Outland to see if anything intresting turns up. For now just about any class/spec can pick a solid trinket combo from the ones already listed.

There are some quest reward trinkets from a quest line in Howling Fjord. I picked up a versatility and haste trinket for my shammy, Sailor's Knotted Charm from the quest 'The Jig is Up'

About trinket:
They standardized the stats, but failed to standardized the inner CD and main/secondary, so:
1. Almost all on-use trinkets are horrible
2. Trinkets with main stat are better
3. Trinkets with 45s inner CD are better, include most WLK trinket and some TBC one.
For example, lv104 trinket converted from old CTM dungeon are probably horrible.

While a normal trinket might provide 22int + 23 secondary stat, some are much better:
1. TW Raid trinket might get socket, the skill of Gul'dan might be the only good on-use trinket, provide 26int+ 6sta+ 13 haste.
2. Abyssal Rune is insane, with 45s inner CD the real stat is about 39 int + 22 haste, BIS by far
3. Forge Ember is also great, provide 33 int +22 crit

I am looking for possible WLK quest reward, but I think clothes should use abyssal rune+ Forge Ember.

PS. Timbal Crystal has 14s inner CD and 10% chance, it was designed for PVE and become much worse when hp per sta increased.

That's very good info. I would not dismiss every on-use trinket though, stacking them with your major cooldowns is very effective, even if overall they're worse stat-wise. E.g. the Vengeance of the Illidari quest reward gives you 100 SP on a 1.5 min CD, which aligns perfectly with an Arcane Mage's Arcane Power. A warrior might want to align an on-use trinket with Bladestorm or Colossus Smash/Warbreaker, etc.

I'll remove the timbal crystal, and star the forge ember, as per your advice.

Very good info. I would say Forge Ember is overrated because crit is generally the worst stat for every spec except fire. Generally, a bg stat-stick that gives your BiS secondary will be a better 2nd after the Abyssal Rune.

int class that uses versa can opt for the 5 int/4 versa gems for max dmg, 20 sockets gives you almost an additional 80 versa stat

Didn't see Ring of Foul Mojo anywhere on the list, seems like a near BiS piece besides Dragon/Horseman gear and quest rings. Also it should be mentioned that the Hijal rings like Band of the Eternal Champion procs aren't working (from what I've researched).

Ugh I can't believe I missed that one... added. I used to wear it, too.

I tested the rings as of the 8.1 patch on my mage. The dps caster works, the healer does not, and I also tested the melee dps one on my mage (lol), and it seemed to proc correctly (gave a certain amount of str/agi on the character sheet). I don't have that faction exalted on any proper melee dps though.

Wanted to mention that you can't get Petrified Ghoul Finger as an agi user. I thought I'd go check to see if I could get it on my Shaman blindly, and you can't - obvious in hindsight lol. You get some crap mail bracers instead.

It does say "Str only" in the notes :)

Consumables section added, though it's a little beyond the scope of a "gear guide". Still, there's no list of consumables anywhere in the stickies that I can see, so it's a good idea to have them there. As always, reply here if I missed anything. Apart from the flasks, the consumables apply to 70s as well as 79s.
