Hello,

I'm getting a 10 man team formed to fight you nerds.

Join a guild, form 10 mans. I will fight you!

In all seriousness I want to hopefully get some good competitive games going. When I say competitive, I don't mean participation trophy kind of fun, like I want to beat everyone kind of fun.

So yeah, lets get this shit.
  • Maximum of two(2) class limit.
  • Maximum of two(2) stealth classes.
  • Maximum of four(4) healers.

If any rules need to be added, I'll add but for the most part this is it.

Debating whether or not to make a 1 fury war rule.

Honestly when your team comp is 2x boomie, 2x arcane mage, 2x marks hunter, warriors just get deleted when they charge in.

Edit: I’d say the better ban is no incendiary ammo for marks hunters. A proc that crits for 1/3 my hp from range is absurd.

Yeah thats cool, whatever comp u want to play is up to u, which is why idk maybe man, in the hands of the right people lots of classes become scary.

ONLY WARGAMING CTF MAPS.

x1 boomy, x1 fury, FC Druid does not count as stealth/healer. Then rules should be good for FC maps.

One Punch would be more then happy to fight you guys around February/March

Honestly don't think two warriors is a problem. We get deleted at every chance. Two class limit is fine for everything.

FC shouldn't count towards restrictions.

so ban an rng hunter proc but the 25% + of some classes entire output = ele force procs is fine? Seems silly

They’re not even close on power level. One is relatively consistent and low damage, the other just randomly insta gibs you for 1/3 of your hp from 40 yard range. 2 hunters on one team can damn near global anyone with incendiary procs.

^ in a controlled, competitive setting, fury just isn't gonna do that well.

Rather than a two per class limit, you might look at a one per spec limit. Two teams running dual boomkin, dual arcane, dual MM, dual disc and like... RSham is just gonna be silly.

Or you could just say there’s no rules and see who is actually best at winning when they have to figure out how to win instead of how to manipulate rules to favor them.

Banning stuff because it’s strong is absurd. Nobody is required to do the middle fight meta. Let the chips fall where they may and see who adapts.

I mean, valid.

I'd just rather see more interesting comps than the four specs everyone plays in pugstomps

It’s almost like there should be three styles of play. Anything goes - other than exploiting (speed hacks etc) this should be interpreted quite literally, standard rules (2 of a class etc), and special rules (stuff like one of each spec to encourage different games).

I obviously favor anything goes for competition but realize I’m in the minority as there aren’t a lot around nowadays who were competing at the top level back in those days so people don’t realize how fun it is and how things just work themselves out and you end up with weird comps anyways because somebody figured out a way to win with that comp.

The special type stuff I enjoy too - just not for “who is best” type competition

how is probably pushing one dominant comp which would result in mirror comps favoring certain people?

That’s a theory craft outlook. Trust me, there wouldn’t long be mirror comps if it was anything goes. Creating class restrictions makes mirror comps far more likely.

You’ll have more face rolls with anything goes, but true competitors will adapt.

I mean, I didnt compete but I certainly watched high level twink premades as far back as BC and I can distinctly remember there being formal rules and even gentlemens agreements regarding premades. Stuff like restricting stealthie classes, consumables and bomb restrictions, and even full out spec bans when some specs (shield slam warriors, aimed shot hunters, etc) were breaking brackets.

Rules and restrictions on twink premades arent new and they certainly dont lower the level of competition.

But I think I generally agree with you that if there werent class restrictions AND we had an active premade scene, the meta and team comps would shift enough to be interesting. But since we dont really have an active premade scene (yet) then perhaps starting a little conservative might be the safe bet.

Best comp without touching or looking up about your bracket -

Double disc
Double rsham
Double boomie / 1 resto 1 boomie
Double hunter
1 Mage
1 rogue/warr

any1 got a better list

run rogue into double boomie
run resto druid into rogue

edit: thinking of dumbass comps if MYT gets his no rules games

no rules comp:

triple disc
double rsham
5 boomkins

any1 got a counter? spoiler alert ofc there's no counter, there's also no fun

Different classes peak / drop off by certain levels. I can tell you that by 49 rsham performance drops off quite a bit relative to lower levels. Fury starts getting extra ridiculous at 49 and up due to gear options. Without a doubt once you got to that point you simply wouldn’t win with one melee against equally skilled people.

I have played less 39 and below this xpac so maybe ranged is the current meta or maybe people just haven’t ran a well put together balanced team yet...can’t say.
