Circumvent Scaling

Hi I have not played wow for quite some time, was thinking of bying BFA but a lot off ppl tell me you get weaker as you lvl?

I also heard that locking xp, and earning xp will bank the xp and apply it once u unlock xp again?

So, my Q is can you lock xp at 110 and use legion gear w. chants and leggos to zerg BFA content then unlock xp and, voila, 120?

The XP banking is only for F2P as far as I know, i.e. people capped at level 20 and basically playing a "demo" of the game.

People get "weaker" as they level because they usually have really good gear at 110. The 110 epics are like 113-115 quest greens, so for the first few levels you've got really good gear. As you level, you don't have epic raid gear anymore. 115 is the last level that legion legendaries work, so that goes away as well. Once you get to 120 and start gearing up with heroics/WQ/mythics and eventually raids, it'll be fine.

Bestworld covered locking xp. You only gain exp if you are pure F2P at level 20. If you have ever paid for a subscription on your account, then you're in the clear.

So while you can lock xp at 110, clear stuff with legion raid gear...when you turn xp back on, you're still 110 and you've done all the quests and now have to level. So either level normally (its not too bad, but you are less OP after a few levels) or you can play a 110 twink with locked exp.

Pretty much. True "scaling" begins at level 120 at ilvl 300, when mobs start scaling with your ilevel. Right now, you just outgear mobs insanely, and that gear advantage wears off over time. In regards to PVP scaling, they made sure that lower levels are on equal footing to 120s. So now that higher levels can't effectively wreck lower levels, people have been making a huge stink on the forums. Even Venruki (at level 120) got rekt by a level 117 boomkin. People thought that was absurd, but Blizz just said that he was bad, and they might look into giving 120s an advantage over lower levels again.


The nice thing about 110 though is that you have access to all 3 Azerite gear pieces (1 from the Heart of Azeroth quest, 1 from Tortollan Treasure Chest Scrolls, and then 1 from the War Campaign) in addition to the Heart of Azeroth itself, which you can grind to get insane secondary stats.
