After a long time I logged into my old World of Warcraft Account and found some interesting stuff on my old Priest.

I saw my shoulders and my ring is now level 30 and "red". Do they still give stats or no? 1h Mace has ilvl 45 but i guess a lower wand is better for pvp?

They wont give stats when red. All of your gear is bad except the mace which is amazing. However in legion wands > other weapons so its not useful. Might be in BfA but for now you have nothing.

Well, here's a related question. Do these red items still give ilvls? Initially, according to armory, they seemed to, and in BGs also. Now, the armory seems to zero those out. That STILL doesn't prove what they do in iPvP...but I haven't tested lately. Anyone running one of these in BGs currently? They did seem to fill out the template...but that was nearly a year ago that I last looked.

Naturally, one can't test by taking the items off, since we couldn't re-equip them.

I’m pretty sure they don’t give stats my friends rogue has 100 shoulders and they don’t give him ilvl

Even if they would it doesnt matter. 35 is standard ilvl for 29s anyway.
 
Red items never provides any stats. It's essentially if that slot has nothing equipped. For instance, when they fixed the 810 holiday weapons, I kept them equipped for a little while, just to dick around. They gave no stats, and the auto attack animation + damage was basically as if I was using bare knuckles.
 
In my definition, stats = str, int, crit, etc. Of course, they never gave stats. And I'm talking about iPvP; NOTHING gives stats (assuming you've filled the slot normally).

But ilvls... when these items first went red (Legion Pre-patch?), and for at least some months, they gave the correct ilvls on the armory, AND the BG template read them correctly. My stats were equal (+/-) to the others of that class, inside a BG.

And yes, there is (was) a purpose to wearing them: the best answer to Blizz's broken design is more broken-ness.

Like I said, since the Armory now discounts them, I assume they no longer provide ilvls in iPvP.
 
Ok, tested a double-red 29 caster (two lvl30/ilvl35 pieces), pugging EOTS. Results inconclusive for serious games, but pugging is np:
  1. Had Greymane’s Resolve/Decree of the Dark Lady (anyone know how much it adds? (Like I said, been a while since I checked these red-ers.)

  2. Most gear ilvl 34,35, except 1 WF 39, 1 25 belt (now replaced), 29-wand, problem/rock/rock/hook/hook/lily DejaStats reported 41/46 = Armory (More data in ss, if you want it).

  3. No twinks that I saw, but was focused on the game; not much time to inspect. MY TEAM: 4 priests, 1 lock and my mage, including a couple 'of the horde/alliance' priests, but neither was a 29 twink. I had 7008 hp, which was more than all the casters, at least initially. (Lock initially had less, resurrected at some point with slightly more than me). 6 hunters; those I checked were about 7100hp.
I'll test some more, now without the buff and with the ilvl 25 replaced with 35. Will change to Engineering, too, at some point. (I also have the ilvl 34 white wand, but didn't test it).

So, what does a non-WF twink mage look like, at 29? HP?

Edit: Forgot to read BG % bonus. BRB (covered up by BGEnemies, so didn't think about it)
