#DeleteFacebook Your Thoughts?

I'm sure many of you couldn't care. But I think this is a pretty damn good trend. Not sure how much traction it will pick up, or if most of the people who try it end up going back. But I think this has been one of the better trends of recent times. This is not only healthy for the individual, but for society as a whole. There was a time where people were much more social and outgoing. Now you look at people eating in a restaurant and looking down on their phones. Anyone outside of their safe space group of friends are an immediate danger to their sanity. Wasn't always like that.

Also the stock has taken a significant hit. Not sure how long the decline will last, but it's pretty steep.

People will keep looking at their phones in restaurants, if not Facebook then Twitter, Instagram or Reddit.

If you’re with someone, it’s a matter of how you deal with such situations. When I’m with my fiancee and we exhaust all talking subjects, we both agree to check out our internet stuff if we’re waiting for our order. I don’t see nothing wrong with that.

When I’m eating out alone, I couldn’t care less, I’ll probably watch something on YouTube.

Pretty often the only way how to find likely minded introverted IRL friends is through FB.

We've been building psychological profiles of ourselves on the internet for years and Facebook has been selling that information for a variety of reasons. Probably not a great habit for a society to pick up. Anonymous released a video highlighting how the founders of Facebook knew it was a thing that exploited a flaw in the human psyche, and they knew it would have a negative impact on society, but did it anyways for the moneys. Also, I'm pretty sure they're pedophiles too.

But muh cat videos D:
I'm not sure what deleting Facebook would do tbh, even before the mobile phone people would also walk around the streets with their heads buried in a newspaper

maybe deleting it is spending too much energy for something not worth it.. just delete the fb app on your phone... how hard is that? and whenever you change your mind in 6 months you can have some fun going to look at FB again...

FB is usefull as a sort of list of people who you want to keep in contact with, seperate from your simcart which can be lost or destroyed.

but yeh... the world goes wayy to hard on all social medias lol...
or unsocial media more like it.

introverted

There’s no such thing every single human being was designed to be expressive and free. There’s only insecurity and a lost path in life, most likely through social conditioning AKA childhood trauma the littlest things; getting an answer wrong in class and subconscious choosing not to be loud

You can’t actually delete your account. You can only deactivate it. But I’m keeping mine activated so I can use messenger. And yeah I did delete the app.

The movement of deleting facebook profiles should include the shorting of FB stock. It would be nice to put an end to FB, and get rich doing so. Once the movement took grip, institutional investors would start pulling out of FB creating incredible MOMO to the downside, and HUGE gains on the short side.

You can delele it. First its deactivated then if you don't log in for like 6 months its deleted.

Golden rule, don't share anything you don't want others to know about. Use social media with a grain of salt. Do on Facebook what you would do in front of a group of people in real life (when it comes to writing).
Don't share sensitive material that you wouldn't otherwise.

People tend to forget that Facebook is not an anonymous window that many people got accustomed to when navigating the internet. And even worse, what you say on Facebook is going to be there for a VERY long time. Imagine if every stupid paragraph you made got into the history books.

All of this doesn't excuse the poor lack of security on Facebooks side though. The issue should be addressed, and action should be taken. Data security is important. Especially when it involves very personal data.

TLDR;
Personally I see good and bad use of social media, and it's all about how you use it.
However, that doesn't mean that the data leak shouldn't be addressed and handled properly.
Facebook needs to get their shit together.

omg... i cant delete my FB! O_O i never knew... damn!! now i also wanna delete it...

If you'r EU, you can, just takes a bit of work. Humans > Companies in EU for as long as that lasts..
