Worthwhile having a 101 twink for mount farming?

Hey all! I remember when legion first released I made a 101 blood dk twink and had a blast. Mainly used him for grinding skinning on that little island with the walrus/seals in Azhuna.

Lately I've been thinking of farming for some rare mounts. Yesterday on my second attempt I got the Ashes of A'lar!

Would you all recommend on having a 101 twink for this purpose or just use a 110? I just returned but I'm assuming a havoc DH would be the fastest? Probably get engineering on them for the wormhole generators too.

Thanks for any suggestions!

havov dh stacking mastery + speed prefix geara
nd engi ports
thats about it

my havoc dh runs faster than 100% mounts making farming old raids and such a breeze, and its very fun

edit: note, i have not tried to solo anything above normal 10 man pandaria raids

tldr, but yes, with the right class and gear you can solo even warlords content.

So are havocs good for dungeon clears and soloing warlords content? Seems like it'd be pretty easy to make a 101 DH...might be tempted if they are good all around and not just fast.

At the moment yes but keep in mind the stat squish is around the corner. Wouldn’t want you to waste your gold to buy twink gear and the patch hits tomorrow. Just something to keep In mind

Is the stat squish expected to negate the scaling?

noone knows. we dont have bfa alpha access to test it out. i think alpha gives you a level 110 to start with so we cant test lower levels. even if we could test it, its not finalized so blizzard could just change things anytime

yall are acting like legion mobs will still have like 2m hp and were only gonna do like 9dps

not sure how you came to that conclusion
every ones freaking out thinking that were going to be useless but i'm sure that the mobs are going to be tuned down aswell, no? I just don't see blizzard not scaling the mobs either. If we are to get scaled down to like 130 ilvl like the alpha, and the mobs aren't tuned down soloing anything above vanilla content would be a challenge even at 120, no?

I think the point is we don't know how the scaling is going to match up. Yes, the mobs are going to be tuned down. But will stats at 101 still be as strong? Will the mobs be over or under tuned? It may be that 101s might not be able to solo things near as well. Hard to tell at this point.

like necroaqua said, i dont think they are talking about mob scaling, but rather stat %. if someone can achieve 100% crit now, will they still have 100% crit after the squish? that noone knows

If this isn’t the case then those who primarily use cooldowns as there means of killing a boss are safe?

@necroaqua and @Iddqd as I primarily twink a havoc DH I will tell you that you will have a rough time unless you are geared and have 16+ traits. For mount farming any toon @ 110 will work with bear tartre. hope that helps.

I don't think I'm going to go ham and purchase all the 840 pieces of gear and make one...but I had the stuff to make the leggo boots and picked up some random 725 pieces for cheap. Leggo boots, 800 gear from questing, and then random other pieces should work to be a fun, fast, character with good speed and scaling in old raids. If I really like it (and if the stat squish doesnt kill the concept) - I might keep an eye out for cheap 840s and look at sololing legion stuff.

I'm not going to be farming much AP - but I'll get at least a few traits. What route do you recommend?

well look who it is! i randomly decided to join xpoff , we farmed many times together with your main Oats haha
but yea that run speed is insane... i had met a 101 DH in a random i couldnt keep up
not sure how much a difference that would be unless your trying to do world record clears..

okay if your going to just use for farming I would recommend the following traits to get as it helps. This is just a recommendation and you can take it with a grain of salt. I am assuming you're going havoc.

1.Warglaives of Chaos
2. Unleashed Demons 3/3
3. Demon Speed
4. Sharpened Glaives
5. Feast of Souls 1/1
6. Deceiver's Fury 3/3
7. Inner Demons 1/1

Total: 13 traits

If you're going to go for more. consider taking Critcal Chaos and make your way to Anguish as that will help with your AoEs during dungeons. As for relics I recommend using the ones that give ranks in overwhelming power. You can get these through quests while you're getting your ilvl 800 gear. Hope that helps bruv

I'm dreaming about the squish making 101 twinks actually more powerful due to scaling weirdness...which would not be of great use since everyone will move from legion to bfa...but you would be able to run like crazy it could be fun and the gear will get rarer and rarer
