Yes, nodes only.

I went to a lake in Northrend for mine and it took me all of a couple hours and no deaths. Might be worth doing since DMF is out for another month.

yeah I was at that lake and caught 400 fish there and got bored, I moved to Pandaria and have fished up over 200 lung fish. Still no sea turtle. I have also fished up enough daggermaw to buy all the heirlooms twice over. I am beginning to think that it doesn't drop anymore.

What is the benefit of increasing fishing level?

Last time I looked (but that may have been 6-8 years ago) the drop rate for Sea Turtle at DMF was fully half that in NR. So, you'll spend 2x the effort to get it in DMF.

That being said, I did actually get a Turtle at the DMF.

Toys: Crashin' toys can be used to scout, and they don't break stealth. The Race car draws aggro to itself (but not you); the Flaming Tank w/e does not draw aggro. Both useful. I use the car like a body pull at the Iron Front, and have used it to trigger the assassins in that BC dungeon...can't recall the name...Shattered Halls?.

The Flyers work again and are also useful for scouting. Drone power!

They all used to work in BGs. /sadface.

what sort of things, i am looking for stuff to fish up and cant find much.

floating debris nodes in certain zones have a chance to drop
rumsey rum light
rumsey rum dark
they override food buffs
so the 2nd one is the better choice
since you can make +6/+6 food with 100 cooking

there is a chance to fish up the 1 ring

also you can sometimes get recipes for low level craftables

and most importantly
every sunday there is a fishing tournament
here are the details

cool thanks, yeah i fish the tournament and have won it 6 times, i just have never used an actual rod or lures.

also forgot to reiterate what necroaqua mentioned
the best thing about fishing is
you can pull up a sea turtle from any fishing node
in northrend
in pandaria
or at the dmf
