Anon ist not allowed to vote? Am i Not a part it this forum/Community?!

[x] free anons

I would like to see this ip thing comming.
Some people wanna troll by posting shit in anon-mode despite having an account. This makes all anons look like idiots, but some are not!!

yeah i cant vote either. you may have learned about this type of “democracy “ in skool.

on topic, sometimes i dont want to log in.

This 'anonymous' thing bring nothing to the table and community didn't like it but Mods insisted on this stupid idea.

//voted: remove completely

If anons stay, I'd like for a feature that states an anon's ID. Like a number associated. Much like battletags.

Example: Anonymous#1224

So when replying to an anon, or referring to another anon, you know which anon you're speaking to. Also helps know that person is a different anon than another in a thread.

I'm also open to the removal of it, but that's not my say.

Idk. I’d like to say remove cuz generally most anon posts are intended to troll or be rude without repercussions. But, people can try harder not to be affected by anon toxicity (me included). This site is already kinda dead, and I question why I’m still on it as I’m typing. But anon is no different than me really. Just cuz my name is shown doesn’t mean anything. Never gonna see anyone here irl so no external reason to be a kind helpful person. Maybe anon posting will help divert everyone from toxicity to kindness and helpfulness, because removing the problem typically doesn’t solve anything. I’m sorry for being an asshole to anon in the past, or defending myself against them. If everyone just tries to be kind to one another, since we basically are all anon, this site will be fine. Just cuz we have different spellings in our usernames doesn’t make us any less anonymous.

Btw, this isn’t no different from racism. Segregating a group of individuals because of maybe one bad experience from a member in the group. You shouldn’t stereotype and say all anon are scum and assholes etc etc. If some people are too lazy to login or don’t want to identify themselves to connect with others that’s fine. Sure it doesn’t make sense to some people, but it makes sense to them. Sure some anon are dicks, but some people who aren’t anon are just as bad if not worse. Goes both ways. You start banning anon, you might as well just ban everyone.

I think it should be up to the author of a thread to decide whether they want anons posting on their thread or not. And not let them create new threads, just post. I feel that gives them some freedom and encourages forum registration (if it's intended for New Users).

How precious! A bunch of safe space needing snowflakes having a "community vote" to expel people that don't get to vote. I think they have a word for that.

It's human nature to abuse anonymity and cause mischief. First step is forgetting to log in to post, next thing you know you're posing as Donald Trump's son pushing alt-right agendas that you don't even believe in for lulz. Less work for everyone that actually works here to just remove it. Besides, you can still be anonymous with a registered account and enjoy some quality shitposting like me.

So while most of us are anonymous with our real names - we still have online identities and reputations. If someone posts some really stupid garbage, then the community associates their name with the garbage and they lose credibility. Likewise, there are people who like to trash talk. After seeing certain names trash talking certain other people - I know that they aren't being assholes, but just like to talk trash. With anons - you don't have that. You're not sure if they are trolling, trash talking, spewing garbage, or even if they are the same anon that started the thread. Because we have different usernames, we ARE less anonymous.

Its hard to argue that this is the same as racism when there are no identifying features for anons. I certainly don't think all anon are scum/assholes - and I assume a lot of people feel the same.

It really comes down to...are the benefits worth the cost? It might be convenient to not have to login, so thats a benefit. It seems to be rarely used - I have seen people making a comment as anon and "signing" it with their name - but its pretty rare. If you want to add to a conversation without identifying yourself, then that can be a benefit as well. But there also comes with costs. With anons, theres no reputation or credibility to lose so many will troll. Anons can even pretend to be just too lazy to log in and pretend to be someone else. Regular users have to work extra to determine if an anon is trolling or is even the same anon who started the thread. Admins have more work dealing with spam. Right now I'd argue that the costs outweigh the benefits. Logging in is a slight annoyance - and is easily reduced by a password manager. Making a second account not tied to your main account to post things without identifying yourself is an option.

So is a few users not wanting to login all the time worth all users dealing with the trolling/spam?

It's a shame people don't realize it's literally the same thought process as wanting to expel people to create an ethno-state, only on a video game community scale. That's something i'm vehemently against personally. Many members who speak vocally against Anon's are the very ones committing the behavior they speak of as reason for banning, and do so with the intent to poison other peoples perspectives on Anon's, I know I can see IP's.

Fact is late into WoW the game has been becoming less and less of what it is every day for half a decade now, the community needs new blood like the Anon's to keep it going in the long term, because the "cliques" won't do it anymore, and the shitposting stinks just as much from members as it does from Anon's, probably less if it wasn't for the people actively trying to sabotage the new twinks who come here anonymously, yet there is outrage every time we ban a member, now some call for a banning, this is highly hypocritical.

Sure these Anon's may troll and shitpost like 85% of you guys do but they also post productively and keep the forums more active than they have been since Legion. Every Anon who visits this site the first time has the chance at becoming a full blown community member with their own account, which I know has been an occurrence on many occasions.

It would be nice to fine-tune the Anon feature but there's a lot of things we'd like to do here that we don't because we don't have the money or expertise to throw around.

I did not vote, I refuse to play any part in any discriminatory, self-defeating, and exclusionary exercise such as this.

Here I found an identifying feature for you.
