EU+US New best AP farm - Cube of Discovery

So many of you may have already heard but there is a new item on the PTR for 7.3. It's the http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=153127/cube-of-discovery.

Seems pretty clear this item is meant to be a "catch up" mechanism for lowbies seeing as you can't use it past level 109, it's BoA, and it requires 98.

The item gives you a 2 hour buff which gives Legion mobs a 10% chance to drop AP.

So there are two questions which must be answered.

How do you obtain one of these?

And what is the average amount of AP per drop?

It's very, very likely this will blow any other AP farming method out of the water. The patch comes out tomorrow and I'll be playing my 110 to try and find out how to get one of these ASAP. But if anyone has any more info on this item that would be great.

Ok so according to wowhead comments it's the http://www.wowhead.com/item=152922/brittle-krokul-chest that drops the cube. You get this from getting exalted with Argussian Reach and then gaining 10,000 additional reputation. You can get one after that for each 10,000 reputation earned.

That means once you're exalted you have a chance to get a cube per 10k rep earned. Hopefully it's a high drop chance.

No one has found one yet. There is a similar item which gives reputation increases. It drops off a rare in Argus. So it's possible the cube drops off a rare in an unreleased section of Argus. I believe the final phase of content will be released on Tuesday. We might see it then.

eh probably not. Assuming it's similiar to http://www.wowhead.com/item=153114/nathrezim-tome-of-manipulation which is a 9% drop from a argus rare (can only be looted once every x number of hours per 110) then farming them will be slow, even if you have multiple 110s. I guess if you plan it correctly you could still fit in some crazy aoe farming in a 2 hour window.

All you need is 1 of those every now and then when you have enough boa rep tokens stored on your 101. Use the tome and rack in double the amount of all the rep tokens you saved.

I'm talking about the cube of discovery. Which you will need many for it to be effective.

Really all depends on how much AP drops. It could be 750 AP per drop for all we know. In which case we're talking ~180,000 AP per cube

Not sure that's accurate. On wowhead it shows up on live when searched for not ptr.wowhead.com.

But you could be right. We will have to wait and see.

I been farming the rares and treasures boxes on my few people. I have yet to see this item but with tomorrows last thing to do with Argus, I may find it there. I will let anyone know if I do

Update:

So I believe what he's talking about is Scuffed Krokul Cache which you get from the Emissary Quest for Argussian Reach.

In order to unlock the world quests you have to unlock world quests for Mac'Aree which involves a moderately long quest chain. Basically do quests in Argus until you unlock Mac'Aree quests. There are at least two sets of world quests in Mac'Aree that you can unlock that I know of.

Anyways, did my emissary quests and got my Scuffed Krokul Cache but no cube for me. If anyone else gets one let me know!

ya we know wat chest comes from wat, it the AP item and where it drops we want to know.

Current reports indicate 50 AP per item and a much lower drop rate than 10%. This was tested on the PTR though so hopefully it's better on live. If not then archaeology may still have the highest potential for AP farming.
