EU+US Most out of Racials as F2P

Mythic Al

Boring Troll
Hello, everyone.

I wanted to put together a Tier List of Racial Abilities. This is just my opinion so far, and I want to start a discussion and see what other people think, how they rank racial abilities based on their favorite class or play-style.

I only included the racial active skills and passive benefits that are relevant to what a pure F2P player has access to.
[This is why the Pandaren +15 Cooking Passive is left out, as on Horde side it doesn't give you access to any other +6 Stam/Vers Buff Food, and on Alliance side it gives you a recipe which requires reagents harder to farm than Murloc Fins]

Hm. This would be a ton of fun to theorcraft Racial+Class effectiveness at just what is the most advantage combination.

Stoneform still #1 underestimated racial.

I've literally never played dwarf so I am 100% guilty of underestimating Stoneform and not having any experience with it.

I am going to have to consider this...

Thinking about creating 5th "Tier"
Draenei should be bottom tier. I'd move troll and orc up.

Yeah, I've kind of realized they are too high as well, as I was moving dwarf up.

Naw dont sweat it. I was more just giving you a hard time. It's not a fantastic racial (though it used to be)

That said, at our level this list is also super dependent on class. Consider, for instance, that shadowmeld gives NE rogues what is effectively a vanish. Thats god tier. But on a warrior? Not terribly useful. BE silence is short range so its great for melee classes (and even better on rogues for dual silence) but its less useful on say, a lock.

And a pandas racial set is GREAT for pve achievement hunters and explorers. But I'd take all your tier 2 and most of your T3 over that sleep.

Yes, I based some of my characters around this concept, but you are right, I should flesh it out as a separate section for each class.

Yeah I think I should change them into Categories, and just do a follow-up section on actual Tiers.

I agree. I agree with that, and on how Chops pointed out its very class dependent.

What makes the Panda racials good for achievement hunters? I haven't played one before.

While in Panda Starting Zone you can tame a Water Strider pet (only after you reach level 13) which at level 20 has a special pet ability that gives you water walking for 10 minutes.

Something to note on the Taming: It's an Exotic Pet, so you have to maintain BM spec, and there is a quest to kill the Ancient Guardian of the Forest, make sure you DO NOT turn it in, as you can kill him, advance into the forest with some higher level mobs to level up quicker, cancel the QUEST, than once level 13, go back repeat the quest and TAME him in stead of killing him, as he is the only Exotic pet of his kind available to F2P (Quilen)

So it's not so much the Racial for the Hunters. But the Bouncy Racial is pretty good for not taking a lot of damage while taking some steep falls, which is handy for exploring as a low level.

It's really good for farming a lot of things, and achievements.

Unfortunately, my main F2P with the 375 fishing is a human. :p I just have to use buffs to water walk.

I mean, I could use a Panda with 100, but..I prefer to do all my achievement farming and such on my main.

Bulk of the work is finished.

Let's keep the discussion going so we can iron out the best options of race choice for each class.

I'll shift the order around based on community opinions.

The only thing with Smeld is in bg iPvP it doesn't work as intended. As a Rogue u can't pop Smeld and go straight into stealth, still takes like 5 or 6 secs. Best it does it break a cast or gets someone to lose you as target.

Last time I checked it worked fine in arena and obviously in world PvP but not in bg's. It is actually quite broken for bg's.

But it is a handy tool for exploring, quite often able to get mobs to turn away for a moment when u pop a Smeld. I'd still keep it up the tiers. Only wish they would fix it to work as intended!;)

The food buff is pretty huge for buffing resilience for corpse dragging through high level zones. And the water walking pet is super nice.

I'd like to see the gnome and undead racials higher for warrior. The ability to clear CC and stay on a target is pretty huge. Gnome is probably a tier higher than undead, given the number of roots vs. the number of fears.

And I'd probably bump up troll for warlock while dropping dwarf a tier.

I'm curious about the shared CD timers on those racials and the trinket/medallion. Are they not totally superseded?

I would personally put dwarf rogue at t2 over gob and worgen at t3 rogue due to stoneform removing dots to get restealth quicker. I would probably put orc at t2 as well because the AP buff is a pretty nice burst on EFCs. Although this may just be my playstyle since i usually position myself pretty well without the movement speed stuff. My opinion is solely based on WSG.

I've always loved dwarves for rogue PVP. Dwarves are my favorite race, easily, due to lore and look as well.

Back when you could get rid of disease with SF? One of the best things to go against DKs in WoTLK.

Then again, you'd still be mostly screwed against a Shadowfrost DK with a Holy Pally in arena. Literally, 90% of the top 100 teams for 2s were that.
