Hey guys, I have some wonderful news for you today.
XPOff's Arena Ladder is officially working again!
You'll notice some pretty substantive changes when you visit the Arena Ladder page, so I'm going to go over those with everyone in this post.
First, Arena Format (2v2 or 3v3) has been removed. This is a long overdue change, since 2v2 and 3v3 have been merged into the same Skirmish Matchmaking Rating for a while now. Instead, you'll see "Rating" posted in the place where "2v2" or "3v3" were before.
Second, we've updated the character profile you see when you left click any player to show their Wow Armory character! This is a nice change to fill up some of the space that was created by condensing 2v2 and 3v3 ratings and their corresponding win/losses into one place.
You'll also notice that many characters are missing from the ladder. But do not worry! There is a simple explanation for this and an easy solution.
On September 20th, Blizzard reset Skirmish Matchmaking Rating - which is what we pull directly from Blizzard's very own API. This means that every character had their Skirmish MMR reduced to 0 on that day. However, until someone logs in and out of that character, their Skirmish MMR will still appear to be what it was before the reset.
As an example, let's say that I had a character that achieved a rating of 2000 last season. The character's rating was set to 0 on September 20th, but Blizzard does not update that on their API until I log into my character and log back out.
As a result, some of the higher rated characters were staying on the ladder. We don't want to encourage people to achieve a high rating and then never touch that character again to make it maintain its high ranking on the ladder. So as a solution to this problem, we've hidden all characters that have not been active since September 20th.
Do not worry, no characters have been deleted from the ladder. You will not need to re-add your characters to the ladder. To make them re-appear, all you will need to do is log into that character and log back out.
And I believe that about summarizes the changes. I hope you all are as excited as I am to know that we can expect this Arena Ladder to stick around for a while
As a result, I'd like to introduce an updated badge system for XPOff Arena Ladder rewards.
Earning a 2000 Skirmish Rating in any of the Arena Brackets (19, 20, 29, 39, 60, 70) will earn you the badge "[Level] Skirmish Master]".
Earning a 2200 Skirmish Rating in any of the Arena Brackets will earn you the badge "[Level] Skirmish Grand Master]".
Earning a 2000 Skirmish Rating in all of the Arena Brackets will earn you the badge "Arena Master" and a unique name color.
Earning a 2200 Skirmish Rating in all of the Arena Brackets will earn you the badge "Arena Grand Master" and a unique name color.
And now that we know more about how the end of Skirmish Seasons work, we plan to implement an End-Of-Season reward system similar to endgame (Rank 1 Gladiator, Gladiator, Duelist, Rival, Challenger) at the end of this Arena Season with corresponding badges!
We'll be polling the community as the season goes on to see how exactly we should go about giving out those rewards in a way that is fair to everyone, so expect to see some communication back and forth about that going forward
