I made a paladin twink, and I have no idea what spec to pick. What's currently good and fun to play rn?

Ret is not bad. It's damage is nothing to sniff at, and getting the stun on a healer with no trinket up can turn the tide of a game pretty quickly.

Prot is god awful, and barely does an okay job as a meatshield.

Holy in terms of healing is, of course, worse than priest, and equal to shaman and slightly better than druid imo.
All in all, 2 out of 3 specs ain't bad.

Alright, thank you! :)

Is 29 worth playing? I didn't really like it all that much in WoD even though I was playing spriest.

TONS of great people/players are in the 20-29 bracket. This is probably the bracket with least amount of levelers due to the amount of people that play Trial accounts.
There are also quite a few horrible people as well. It can be quite frustrating if you let that sort of thing bother you. It is probably one of the most populous brackets. Thus, queue times can be pretty short.

I mainly play a holy Paladin so I can give you some insight at the class (level 20)

You are below the output of priest (its difficult to keep up with bubbles, etc) but you have some VERY useful tools over other classes. Holy Paladin dps is fairly decent, I was getting 600+ judgments (non crit) and 500+ crusader strikes (non crit). Bestow faith is incredible as well. Hoj is still one of the best abilities in the bracket, and divine shield + high armor lets you tank heals fairly well and have good survivability.

Losing dispell and lay on hands this xpac really hurt, but a solid healer can still put out a lot of heals and I have been able to keep up/get close to the overall healing of most priests.

Ret seems fairly decent as well, just not personally much of a dps player. I would shy away from prot, it's never really been a good pvp class in my experience. I would highly recommend trying a healer

Prot has been viable in PvP low level for a long time. This patch they really do suck and I find unplayable tbh.

I suppose I should clarify in saying outside of the silence, vs ret of other xpacs, it seems subpar and even then, when I have encountered prot paladins, the silence is only an annoyance than anything (except when there are multiple people focusing me, but in that scenario it is really just a mana war until the inevitable). I've never really found a viable use for protection, and I have played a paladin across going on 4 expansions.

Maybe I am wrong, and for whatever reason the spec never clicked for me though. This xpac prot is at its worse sadly :/

Prot is at its worst for sure. I just haven't seen it this unplayable for a long time. It has had its ups and downs over the years but was always playable. Right now prot just sucks so hard and by far....its no contest is the worst spec.

I used to main a prot a long time ago. I've been playing feral and frost nowadays. So it got that bad, huh?

Ret damage is great, and with CS now using charges, you're more bursty, especially with the stun.

Holy is still decent heals, but obviously priest is just outclassing everything.

Prot has uses, but like everyone is saying, it's comparatively bad. AS range, silence, and Hasted judgement bombs hit HARD. Their melee attack is trash though.

Not 100% unviable but close.

I have to retract an earlier statement: Holy healing might be on par with shaman or slightly worse.

The problem I have two resto shamans. one on horde(orc) and alliance(Draenei) and I don't know what it is but the one i have on Alliance healing surge heals for 1.2k average and rip tide heals for 700 average. while my orc heals for 150-300 less on each heal. I don't know if it has to do with race or gear, but I would keep it in mind. My holy paladin in full invasion gear and non upgraded quest rings flash heals for 800 and 600 Shocks with the 1st tier far left talent healing for 1k.

So for now its like this imo for healing:
Priests
Shamans>=Holydins
Druids
Monks(???)
