The Beast Within
I know I read somewhere here on the forums how tough Mistweavers are, but I didn't expect them to do more dps than a damage class. I did some dummy testing in Theramore and I couldn't believe what I noticed.

I know it's not in instances PvP, but on the dummy the Mistweavers dps was awesome. Especially the http://www.wowhead.com/spell=116645/teachings-of-the-monastery ability. You can stack X 3 and then your http://www.wowhead.com/spell=100784/blackout-kick hits harder than a Van Damme action film!

I then tried to match the dos on my BM Hunter and was unable to. At best the BM Hunter was 100 or so dps off the pace.

Also noticed that spell power is everything for Mist dps in WPvP. I equipped Grimclaw with Ele Force and dps dropped right off. Equip the spell power heirloom again and dps goes through the roof again.

I want to run some tests later on my Fury to see how that stacks up against the Misty but I am in awe of how much dos they can do.

From hitting like wet noodles in WoD it seems Misty's are gonna wreck some face in Legion :p

I like monks for lots of reasons so was interested to read this, if it still applies. I assume so as you still have your MW.

One thing I noticed was that my MW healing is not as effective in BGs as my Disc Priest. (It may be their respective gear iLevels or my lack of experience or ability - I may not be comparing apples with apples. I have gear sets for PPV & PVE on most alts, but they are currently a bit chaotic.)

PUG BG teams seem to suffer from lack of healing, so I am concerned that using up a Healer place For the sake of my DPS isn't doing the best job for the group.

I'm procrastinating about which of my too many alts (more than I show in my signature) to concentrate my time & resources on & this would help my thought process.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for all your helpful posts BTW.

MW isnt in the same class as a Disc priest lol. MW if you want can be considered a DPS class with good offheals and moderate damage.

Understood - it's tough to decide whether to go for a compromised hybrid that you enjoy some aspects of or specialise. Not enough hours in the day to play multiple alts given the need to earn a living & have a life.

Terminal indecision based on regret over poor (sometimes hasty) previous choices. No way to live - it's just a game!

Thanks for the advice.

I also like the Monk but I haven't played it recently. I have mixed feelings at the moment about the Mist Monk. I love the dps they can push out. In a 1 v 1 situation they can be quite potent. I once had a 3 - 4 min 1 v 1 vs a Disc Priest at DR in EotS. It was epic and almost a stalemate. The priest probably slightly had the upper hand but we couldn't finish each other off.

But I only like to play if I know someone in the bg will peel and protect me. If I line up with friends I can be useful, but in normal bg's, especially Ally where no one protects the healer it's quite tough being a Misty.

Also with no instant heals u have to be 1 step ahead of the game especially with Surv damage and Boomies.

I would say it's probably the weaker atm of the healer classes, especially since Legion dropped but having some fun in a bg knocking teeth out with a triple roundhouse kick is cool ;)

In defence of the Misty however I haven't really put enough effort into it to say definitively how it is. I find arena difficult as Mist if the dps target u, but if the dps focus the other dps u actually have a chance. I'm probably 50:50 success in arena. I've been playing around with a Disc recently as F2P and it does feel stronger as a healer, but hey, you can't do a Holly Holm and loosen ur oppositions teeth with a big kick to the face!

I may get the Misty out again for a run now that I've seen others with an interest in them :)

@icehawk Ima put this in the most literal way I can. MW in arena has no chance vs even half decent teams. if you know how to dps right with a priest ull do way more damage than a mw will and by you having fear you also have a way to interrupt a heal and possibly set up a 60 or 50% to 0 burst. I can guarantee u that if you stop qing against 29s and the other 20s that have no idea what their doing and play some real wargames, you wont win 90% of your games as a MW.

I do agree with you on this. Problem I have is the timezone I'm in which does put me up against a lot of.......... lower quality players so I do have some decent success. Probably would be a different story in premades!
All this Mistweaver talk made me get out my Misty last night and had 2 x successful EotS's and 2 x successful arenas.

Died a lot of times in the 2nd EotS but some damn Surv Huntard had a hard on for me and just kept coming at me

I would probably say Mistweavers could be considered more a support type healer. They do struggle with straight up healing power, where as a Disc or Resto Shammy might be able to get in the thick of the fight and heal their a$$es off and their companions also, the Misty needs to stick back from the fight and heal from the shadows so to speak.

Still, I did have some fun on the Misty. I may try getting her out more often and trying to improve my Mistweaver game, see if I can make it something quite useful.

Doing the Holly Holm on the Theramore Dummy!

Still, straight up pound for pound Misty's can do some serious damage! This is obviously wPvP dps. Not many dps specs that can match this sort of wPvP sustained dps! It doesn't feel as powerful within instanced PvP but the triple kick and blackout kick can still hurt in iPvP. This sustained dps makes even my Huntard embarrassed

Wait what 900 DPS?! I don't think survs can even reach that...
I know right!
Surv can only spike at 900 - 1000, but sustained it's only around 750. If I put Ele Force on it would probably sneak up a touch, but not 900 dps consistently like the Mistweaver. It's crazy in wPvP. But that's in a perfect world where you can get your 3 x Tiger Palms then the Roundhouse then the Rising Sun kick, rinse and repeat.
My Misty has Haste chants so it probably helps but it rarely dropped below 850 dps when testing on the Theramore dummy.
There won't be many dps classes that can do that sort of sustained dps.
