OG DOOM Gods. Legends Never Die

I stumbled upon this most juicy website that lists bios and pictures of 1993-2000 Doom Gods (Players that are good at the original doom lol). It's quite a read.

Some Examples:

He's the most intense player I've ever been around. It seems like he is terrified of the remote possibility that he might, somehow, suck in his game. He plays with an intensity that looks similar to someone whose life depends on the outcome of each frag. It is kind of scary to watch him play a hard game. I believe he is the Bobby Fischer of Doom2 deathmatch, and that if DoomGod were still a singular term referring to the one highest-skilled player, he would be it. In the context of having studied the surviving recordings of the prior Map1 doomgods, he's the best Map1 player to date, and probably the same goes for a number of other common maps.

I got to meet and play Henning at the Stavanger, Norway netparty in December, 2000. I also got to watch him do his 37 minute 38 second Nightmare run live, and I remain awestruck by this doom-god's incredible skill. Whenever he would start to play a Nightmare game, the people in the room would wander over and cluster around his monitor to watch, as seen in this picture here.

Watching him play live is mesmerizing. His real life appearance while playing matches his local Augi's nickname for him: "Zombie". He looks wholly relaxed and casual, watching the screen. What seems like only occasionally, you see his mouse hand move, almost careless-looking. His keyboard hand is just resting there; you see the fingers moving to different keys in his config but it doesen't look all that deliberate. But then, when you see what is happening on his monitor, it is like the two worlds don't match. The game on the monitor is absolutely amazing, fast, and among the highest skilled things you can watch. A phrase that comes to mind that describes it well, for me, is "casual perfection".

I've gotton whacked on Map11 by other players, but none had this degree of complete control as Xoleras did.

Xol was good on other maps too, and he definately had a strong Doom2 Map1 game. I have no idea how he would have done on Map1 against the modern Map1 specialists, although he tells me that he came out of retirement shortly before DMcon2 to play Sslasher modem to modem on Map1 and won that game. Sslasher would have been at or close to his prime at that time.
