Edit: new questions below

hey guys,

i started twinking this expansion and this is my first time playing wow. Been lurking around in this forum for a while and want to thank all of you mates for all i ve learned so far.
I built one of each available toon for f2p (all clothies are Horde / leather and mail Alliance)
Ok i m not finished yet, rogue is level 3 ;D but the rest is 20 and full equiped. I ll show them in this thread when all is set. I now look for something to do in the BG-queue times.

tldr: me noob pls help

here are the questions:

1) which Tabards are obtainable for a f2p? i only have the one for each race tabards
2) Can u name one easy to farm buff food for both alli and horde? (there was an info about eating before BG and remaining buffed until first death?)
3) At which time does the Fishing tourney start on sunday for EUs? Is it every sunday?
4) Some Wards got an shiney aura thingy under your character -> all i ve found so far shine green. Are there any other colors (i would like pink for my blondie bloodelf priestess)
5) My Panda Hunter fishs for the Sea Turtle - it still drops right? how are the chances on each cast?
6) can u tell me a good site to start getting into addon and macro stuff; maybe even low level related? remember first time playing wow and this stuff doesnt seem so easy ;D
7) what is BiS weapon for guardian and feral druid? also the slowest one i can find? i heard weapon dmg matters for melee druid?
8) i read there is a way for f2p to get the gliders which looks so fun (and OP) in BGs, how?

thats it for now, i think of using this thread for more questions later. But now thank you in advance for reading thinking and answering

sry for bad england
see you in BGs ;D

Edit: Hey its me again!
Thanks again for all the tips you gave me last time. Here are some more Questions:

1) Due to a PartyMech standing around in Goldshire, my Panda was ported to Outlands. Is there anything cool to get for a f2p there? anything is ok, be it pets, tabards, toys, really whatever

2) on the subject of profession crafting -> Alot of items stated as obtainable by f2ps, are locked in my professions windows ingame. There is a lock right next to the name of the item and in red letters: Not obtainable by starter edition Accounts
Thats really annoying because there are some like flying tiger goggles, which i really need. Is there a way around this?

3) when a tameable mob has a long spawn timer (like the hydra in wailing caverns entrance), do i have to wait there for the time or is it also ok to visit the spot from time to time and see if it s there by chance?

4) where does a f2p fishing skill count? all fancy stuff i ve found so far are from fishing schools where the skill level doesnt count.

Sorry for the bad english skills again and thanks again!

8) the gliders drop from the Blingtron 5000, not guaranteed, but high chance of dropping. Only way I know to get for pure f2p

I now look for something to do in the BG-queue times.
Not much you can do beside quing arenas/dungens or dueling. afk or exploration/farming materials is an option, but it is not for everybody.

1) which Tabards are obtainable for a f2p? i only have the one for each race tabards
main fractions + http://www.wowhead.com/item=19505/warsong-battle-tabard, http://www.wowhead.com/item=20132/arathor-battle-tabard, http://www.wowhead.com/item=19032/stormpike-battle-tabard http://www.wowhead.com/item=15198/knights-colors http://www.wowhead.com/item=15196/privates-tabard

There are also some high level tabards you can get but that would require you to get reputation.

2) Can u name one easy to farm buff food for both alli and horde? (there was an info about eating before BG and remaining buffed until first death?)
http://www.wowhead.com/spell=3376/curiously-tasty-omelet http://www.wowhead.com/spell=3372/murloc-fin-soup
there is one at darkmoon faire but that will take time to make as fishing up the fish is not as easy as it use to.

Also there are some potions at darkmoon faire for tokens. if they didn't removed it yet.

3) At which time does the Fishing tourney start on sunday for EUs? Is it every sunday?
2 pm - 4 pm. server time.
to win rewards you will need to fish up 40 fish within first 50 man window. been reports of it extremely easy to do.
You still need rare fish for lucky fishing hat.

4) Some Wards got an shiney aura thingy under your character -> all i ve found so far shine green. Are there any other colors (i would like pink for my blondie bloodelf priestess)
Probably high level toys. you can turn yourself red with http://www.wowhead.com/item=69940/grimnurs-bait but that would mean you will not be able to do fishing dailies if you are to keep this item,

5) My Panda Hunter fishs for the Sea Turtle - it still drops right? how are the chances on each cast?

still works. it is 0.01%. pure rng to get.

6) can u tell me a good site to start getting into addon and macro stuff; maybe even low level related? remember first time playing wow and this stuff doesnt seem so easy ;D

personaly using

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,harm,exists] [] YOUR SPELL NAME HERE

on everything. it will cast a spell on mouseover if you got it. else it will cast it on your target.

With 7.1.5 they added new

/cast [@cursor] YOUR SPELL NAME HERE

it allows you to cast things like traps and more abit faster. not for everyone and anything thro.

7) what is BiS weapon for guardian and feral druid? also the slowest one i can find? i heard weapon dmg matters for melee druid?
In my exp: you only gimp yourself with slow weapons.
For pve you should go max stamina as guardian and as pvp, well, why would you go guardian in pvp...
if you don't have legion pre exp items go with http://www.wowhead.com/item=48718/repurposed-lava-dredger

8) i read there is a way for f2p to get the gliders which looks so fun (and OP) in BGs, how?
Pure rng to get. drops from blingtron reward boxes.

Hi @iceTdrinker ;) Welcome to twinking :)

@SPQR has done a good job in his response. I'd just like to add a few more bits and pieces.

2) Can u name one easy to farm buff food for both alli and horde? (there was an info about eating before BG and remaining buffed until first death?)
With regards to keeping the buff in a bg, it won't work for you at level 20. In the 20 - 29 bracket, only level 29's can carry the buff into the bg. It's more than likely some bug on Blizz's end but as level 20, whether F2P or paid/Vet level 20 we can't get any buffs into the bg

I now look for something to do in the BG-queue times.
It's not for everyone and @SPQR mentioned it but exploration is a cool way to pass the time. Challenge yourself to see how much of Azeroth you can explore. You should let us know which server you are on and then ask around on this forum if someone can give some of your toons a teleport to the main city in Pandaria, from there you will have access to all content and zones up to Warlords of Draenor. You can knock yourself out exploring Pandaria, Northrend, Outland, Draenor and the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. The next Darkmoon Faire that comes up you should try and get the http://www.wowhead.com/item=122124/darkmoon-cannon on your favourite toons. This will help you explore some of the more difficult areas. It's hard to get but worth it imo.

You could also solo some dungeons. As Alliance I sometimes farm the Stockades simply to replenish my stocks of http://www.wowhead.com/item=929/healing-potion. Try some of the other dungeons and see if you get lucky and score a rare item like http://www.wowhead.com/item=1482/shadowfang or http://www.wowhead.com/item=3417/onyx-claymore.

Try your luck at farming the http://www.wowhead.com/item=19024/arena-grand-master.

Also Achievement hunting. During world events see how many of the Achievements you can get. It's a challenge on F2P's but for some including myself it's fun to see how many you can get as F2P/Vet. There are some cool people on this website who have written some cool threads on this sort of stuff.

Most importantly, have fun and I hope you enjoy your twinking experience ;)

Edit : Forgot to mention, at the Darkmoon Faire you should try to get as many tokens as possible so you can purchase some Heirloom items. You can then use the Heirlooms on all your toons once you have picked it up on one toon. With heaps of toons you could pick up a few pieces per DMF.

Wow thanks so much for your answers. I ll look everything up in the Next few days. I agree there are a bunch of nice guys around here!! ^^

Just wanted to chime in with a welcome! I hope you enjoy your twinking experience.

Ive been working on a sort of beginners guide for people just like you. Its been slow going (moving, new ISP is a dick, installation is apparently a 4 week wait) but the rough draft is available.

Since you're the target audience, I'd appreciate your input on it (readability, information, etc) so i can continue to improve it.

1) Due to a PartyMech standing around in Goldshire, my Panda was ported to Outlands. Is there anything cool to get for a f2p there? anything is ok, be it pets, tabards, toys, really whatever
If you haven't been ported yet to Pandaria, then I'd suggest you set your hearth to one of the inn's in Shattrath. From Shattrath you can port to your capital city, either SW or Og. I'm yet to explore Outland myself, it's next on my list after I finish Kalimdor, but I'd say you wouldn't want to leave Outland until you have the explore achieve for it. If you set hearth there you can leave and hearth back, just don't set your hearth elsewhere unless it's Pandaria. Some World events require you to visit places in Outland so it's handy to have access to it.

Are you a pure F2P or are you making new F2P characters on an old paid account? You sound like you have the Vet profession problem which comes about because you were sub'd once and now are not. If you want to go F2P it's best to make a new account which you can link to an old account so you share heirlooms and stuff but if you make a new toon on an old paid account the professions are bugged. It's a problem we Vets face :(
upload_2017-3-28_9-54-0.png

For some reason Vet accounts can't make anything over about level 60 - 70. This is my Alch on my Warrior

3) when a tameable mob has a long spawn timer (like the hydra in wailing caverns entrance), do i have to wait there for the time or is it also ok to visit the spot from time to time and see if it s there by chance?
You'll go mad waiting for long spawn timers. Usually when I camp a rare I visit it from time to time. Sooner or later you'll get lucky. Some people can sit there for hours waiting, I personally can't do that but each to their own. Check at odd hours, you may get luckier when there's less people in the area.

4) where does a f2p fishing skill count? all fancy stuff i ve found so far are from fishing schools where the skill level doesnt count.
Fishing schools don't require skill so all good there. But places like the Darkmoon Faire now require a high level fishing skill to avoid picking up junk. If you want to fish http://www.wowhead.com/item=124669/darkmoon-daggermaw you need high fishing skill. As F2P you can't go past 100, but if you get some other items like http://www.wowhead.com/item=33820/weather-beaten-fishing-hat, http://www.wowhead.com/item=50287/boots-of-the-bay, a http://www.wowhead.com/item=6365/strong-fishing-pole or if you are lucky and have a http://www.wowhead.com/item=6366/darkwood-fishing-pole then throw a fishing line on it and a http://www.wowhead.com/item=124674/day-old-darkmoon-doughnut on your line or something like it, you can get your fishing up high enough that you can catch the fish at a decent rate. You'll still get rubbish but you'll have a better chance than just at 100. I think you need about 600 - 700 to avoid any junk at Darkmoon Faire. There is even http://www.wowhead.com/item=34832/captain-rumseys-lager which is available to F2P characters. Actually, I would have to check as it may be an issue with Vets, but F2P should be ok with it.
I'd say the Darkmoon Faire would be one of the few places you would want high fishing as a 20. If you are hardcore and want to go after some of the open water fishing achieves, then the higher fishing would help with that also.

Hope your having fun twinking ;)

Thanks for your answer and for that screenshot, thats exactly my problem.
Thats stange, i haven't payed a cent for wow yet, so i am no vet, but i ve the profession bug on all my chars. Sucks so much to gather and craft to a certain transmog and it just isnt working.. ;.(
How are my chances of wispering a gm, maybe they can do something about that?
I started my f2p journey on an other (german) server, the characters are still there, maybe they can craft there and obtain the moggs there. That might be working, I ll give an update.

Thanks for the tipp checking at odd hours for the rare mobs

these "open water fishing achieves", is there a place where i can find a list of them? and do u get something out of them other than the fame? Why is it hardcore?

i am having great fun twinking, thanks!

If you can link your other F2P account with your current one you should be able to get the mogs from your old account. Very strange though, I've got a new linked F2P account and the professions work fine, but my Vet account the professions are broken. I've tried as have others but I don't believe Blizz will do anything about the profession bug. Very strange it's affecting your account like that!

Some fishing achieves require luck and patience, that why I said hardcore. For instance trying to catch all the fish for http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=5478/the-limnologist or all the coins in the Dalaran fountain http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=2094/a-penny-for-your-thoughts. The higher your fishing, the better chance you will have at these. You should be able to get to Dalaran (the old Dalaran) from your capital city. I don't know about Horde but I know Ally has a boat that goes to Northrend. I think the flight path there may be available without visiting Dalaran, can't recall. Obviously it's easier if you can eventually get to Pandaria with portal access to all major cities.

To find all the fishing achieves, simply look at your character's Armory and go to Achieves > Professions > Fishing. Lots of achieves there is you are an achieve hunter!

it wasnt an old account, just 2 chars on an other realm but still worth a try after work today.
I ve just read only an gm can link 2 accounts together, makes my new plan (creating f2p accounts til i get one which can craft^^) a bit harder. damn i want that copper belt tmog really bad oO
