EU+US Battle Chest Down to $4.99

Hey just a quick thread for pure F2Ps the battle chest is dropping to 5 bucks come Black Friday. This gets you access to the Auction House, high item lvl gray items, guild heirlooms, new mounts/pets, gold storage above the 10g cap, more bank slots, possible free game time if they bring back Legion trials, and a bunch of other countlessly helpful things. Unless you are into maxing your trial for the fun of it I would highly recommend this one time purchase.

Try and farm gold and buy as many guild looms as you can IMO. Make a DK and farm some lvl 40 mounts if there's anything you want. http://www.wowhead.com/npc=20240/trader-narasu are my personal favorite and are doable in 3-4 days. If you have Q's about what else would be helpful post here.

Thanks for the heads up Hash.

The only downside is, not that it's a big deal but it will turn you from a F2P into a Vet which means you'll get the bugged professions once the 1 month expires. Archaeology will stop working while un-sub'd.

But that's a small price to pay for all the other benefits you mentioned.

A couple of other cool benefits :-
  1. level fishing and first aid past the 100 cap (for non-gf'd F2P's) and make some http://www.wowhead.com/item=14529/runecloth-bandage on a higher level toon which can be used with the higher first aid skill on the F2P's (for non-healer classes)
  2. Level some toons up to lvl 60 and pick up as many quest items as possible for mogging on your F2P's
  3. If you manage to get some high level toons, farm the rep books from Pandaria for double rep which will help with rep grinding later. Also pick up some rep tokens (those that can be used by low level toons) from various factions / boss drops
  4. buy/craft the biggest bags you can for your 20's
  5. Get in a guild - you can guild chat after sub expires
  6. Make/buy lots of http://www.wowhead.com/item=109076/goblin-glider-kit. These are awesome for exploring, especially when combined with the http://www.wowhead.com/item=122124/darkmoon-cannon
  7. if your not already there, buy/ask for a port to Pandaria. Take advantage of the ability to use Trade Chat while sub'd
I'm sure there's lots of other things you can do also while sub'd up. ;)

That high ilvl weapon from Legion known as "Common Legion Blade" has been fixed and nerfed from 5.0 of speed down to 2.4, and have a high level requeriment to use it now. Is there any other high ilvl equipment from Legion that has't been fixed, what grays from AH are these you mention?

Don't being a veteran mess with you profession skills and then you cant make any item above level 75 of skill?

Correct. It's about 60 - 75ish. U can't make some pots if u have Alchemy, u can't make anything but low bandages etc. Archaeology also doesn't work if ur Vet as u can't loot the fragments.

However if u level a profession past 100, say to 225, the skill level is recognised even though u can't make anything. For instance if u have 225 Engineering u can wear certain goggles that require 225 even though u can't make anything over 60 - 75.

Or if u level Fishing to say 600, u can fish no problems at DMF or in higher level zones.

So there are some prof benefits but also some cons. A small price to pay for all the other Vet benefits. ;)

Are all BiS items that you can buy from vendors. Lily you wouldn't use over OH or shield though... just casters with a 1her.

The bugged professions are annoying. I heard if you don't do the DMF profess quest they don't bug? Not sure though.

The biggest, most important thing if you sub:

If you lock your XP on your twink while subbed make sure you unlock it before your time expires!

If you don't it bugs your character and you won't be able to join BG's/arenas. But it's easy enough to get around, just remember to unlock or don't play that character during your free month.

Cool. tnx for info. might buy 2nd license on main acc for 10 day trials and raf mount.
Overall if you new to f2p i'd say go vet to make your life easier.

One thing to consider is seeing "reactivate now" tab for the rest of your life every time you at character selection screen as vet.

Mogs are also a big deal, almost everything that doesn't have a required level that comes from a quest is moggable from 1-50. I have seen someone mog a weapon from MoP that was the same deal, quest with a weapon with no lvl req, so it exists higher. Lots of things to explore.

Just out of curiosity, what's the ilvl needed for a 20 twink to see any stats increase in a bg?

I haven't bothered to check exactly what level a 20 starts to see an increase, but I can confirm that at ilvl 36 you have some stats increase. The below snips show the difference between ilvl 27 & 36. I'm not far away from getting my first Arena Trinket so that will increase my ilvl slightly so I can see if that makes any more of a difference. Will try to report back once I have the trinket.

so from ilvl 27 to 36 a level 20 Hunter gets +1 Armor, +1 Agility, +2 Stamina and +1 Attack Power.

Ignore the damage increase as it's from the slower weapon, not the increased stats.

Now, if I try and work out the maths for this, I think it goes something like this, but I'm not 100% sure:-
I would need to see more test cases to see if I'm right however at 20, the standard ilvl is 25 (as per the looms which scale to 25). So at ilvl 36 which is 11 over the average ilvl of 25, it would give me 1.1% stat difference which is roughly what it works out to be in the above snips. Bear in mind at ilvl 27 it's still 0.2% higher stats, only we don't see it as it's rounded to nearest whole number. That's my understanding of how it works. Based on this, I would anticipate you start to notice some stat increases around ilvl 30 or 31 depending on which stat it is and how high the starting stat is.

If you update your DejaCharacterStats it's now displaying to the hundredth place rather than rounding down to the nearest integer. That is, say for instance the mean of your ilvls might be 36.43, now it's showing that, instead of just 36.

It useful to see how close you are to the next ilvl and whatnot.
