Has Shadowmeld changed?

The Beast Within
I haven't played a rogue for a while but last night I was giving my Nelf Rogue a run and found http://www.wowhead.com/spell=58984/shadowmeld was not acting like it used to. I have a Nelf Hunter so I know to use it to make a caster drop a spell or against a Surv's axes but with a Rogue I thought u could use it and re-stealth straight after.

In instanced PvP once u Smeld u r still in combat for several seconds it seems so u can't re-stealth till at least 5 secs or so goes past. With only 1 stun as a Mut? Ahhh, I mean Assis Rogue I was looking to get my opener out, get the target bleeding like a cut pig then Smeld, rinse and repeat. But it wouldn't let me do it. Was so frustrating as healer / hybrid classes were healing themselves while I was waiting the 5 secs or so to re-apply stealth.

Funny thing is, I noticed in arena Smeld worked as I recalled and I could instantly stealth straight after.

Has anyone else experienced this or am I not doing something correctly?

No longer drops combat I think

Yup, it's either bugged or nerfed. Haven't done any research on potential nerfs, but I highly doubt it. It seems that in open-world, you can stealth right after you meld, however, in instanced PvP, you cannot. Really put me off playing my Nelf rogue tbh....

Combat states in general have been fucked up completely over the last 2-3 expansions. Most likely caused by failed attempts to fix the pet combat bug... they really need to tighten up the mechanics of this game. It's so embarrassing that wotlk pvp is so mechanically superior to live pvp. And nobody is ever talking about it.

The overall fluidity of the game has just gone to shit. Now you need addons etc. to give you the proper combat information that you need. Just simple things like leaving combat. So much combat text missing that was essential as well. Just overall more fluent gameplay back in wotlk. :/

We need instant restealth, so much more possibilities as a rogue in that case! I could actually solo healers as a nelf

To clarify a little on my previous post in case anyone is unaware:
In some hotfix in late mop (after 5.4) they rewrote the code on player pets to make them more like an extension of players and less like separate entities merely controlled by a player. This is when the pet combat bug started.
The bug is pretty simple: Whenever a player commands their pet to attack a hostile target, both the pet and the player will instantly gain combat state (enter combat). It doesn't matter how far away the hostile target is. Your pet doesn't need to be anywhere near it. Giving the command is enough.
This is easily exploitable in pvp especially against rogues who rely heavily on combat states for cc.

Blizzard first acknowledged the existence of the bug on twitter sometime during early WoD (months after it was introduced).

It's now mid legion approx. 4 years after the bug was introduced and they still haven't fixed it. But by attempting to fix it they've screwed up a number of other things including the reason for this thread: shadowmeld.

Just thought I'd post the whole story because it's quite funny to me.

edit: oh, and they also introduced even worse bugs like the night elf vanish bug by messing with combat state code. I think that one has been fixed though? Someone confirm/deny.
For those unaware of that bug it instantly drops the combat state of a night elf player if an enemy rogue vanishes, enabling the rogue to sap them out of nothing. That bug was/is(?) also in the game for multiple years and was apparently unfixable to the point where blizzcon contenders were specifically told not to abuse it. Pretty fucking hilarious.

It is not working as it use to (among many other things)
In order to meld > stealth you must pop shadowmeld and standstill for 6 seconds to drop combat.
Now anyone with brain will just run to you and you are done, but it is the only way to make this semi vanish great again.

Ownedcore had post few week ago about rogues staying stealth while attacking. again.

maybe blizzard should just hire the legacy gaming network to (secretly) run the game for them.
