EU+US High lvl white gear for BGs still viable?

So I haven't done any Battlegrounds in forever, but I did some today since the Flamesaber quest got me in the mood for some PvP again.

But as I inspected people, I didn't see anyone wearing the high level white gear (like The Rock, Problem Solving Pendant, and Stratholme Lily). Are these items no longer BiS for instanced PvP? Tbh, I was a bit shocked when these items became BiS, but I acquired them anyway.

So is it now better to actually wear items with stats on them, or did I just see the people who didn't have them?

Probably just people didn't have them. Tbh the stats increase just isn't enough for most people to bother with the white gear.

Sergeant on your hord rogue does it mean you are twinking since vanilla ?

Rings,pendant,off-hand whites are still BiS. Possibly didn't have any twinks in your game. Others just use random uncommon/rare necks/rings etc as, like someone said, the stat difference is minor. Contrary, some people tend to buy ilvl17 whites off the vendors and use that for bgs and only have a slight disadvantage against BiS players. Anyway, glad you came back to twinking

Oh you noticed! I'm a little surprised anyone would actually notice that title. Yeah, I have the Sergeant title because I've been twinking since forever!

Since the days when Molten Core was end-game content. Since the days when you had to farm those mats and librams, to enchant your head/legs, and enchant your shoulders with the Zulgurub shoulder enchants. Before professions gave a stat buff (which was eventually nerfed); so most lvl 19s had Engineering. When you had to be careful not to level out of your bracket, because there was no way to turn off the xp. When we used Thottbot instead of WoWhead to look up quests and pieces of gear. And when twinking made a huuuuge difference in instanced PvP.

Yeah I got into twinking in Vanilla with level 19s and 29s, I dare say before "twinking" was such a popular concept. Most people didn't know what it was back then, and it was a bit more frowned upon, because those who didn't understand just automatically assumed it was to gain an unfair advantage over people in BGs. They didn't understand the effort, attention to detail, and pride involved with the actual process of "building" that twink.

Then when WoW's free trial eventually turned to F2P, it led to me switch to the lvl 20s. Plus, allowing me to have multiple free accounts to house my twink collection seemed ideal for me. A penny saved is a penny earned and whatnot right? Lol.
