EU+US Ray of Frost, good lord...

100% of the time, a Mage's Ray of Frost can one-shot any character in the 20-29 bracket, 100-0, if they aren't bubbled or actively receiving heals while it's channeling. Even if they are receiving heals, the ramped up burst will very often still kill them. Discuss.

Having hella fun on my Mage 1HKO'ing people at full health in BGs. So many people just stop moving and don't do anything once they come to the realization of what's happening. Also, Ice Lance procs from Fingers of Frost and Flurry procs from Brain Freeze hit pretty damn hard.

Let's get some more Mages and clean the skidmark on the underpants of this bracket that Survival Huntards have become!

i think surv just got buffed as well, so in a 1v1 it would be interesting to see a mage beat a surv, none the less, time to break out my ol' 29 mage

Goblin Glider out of channeling range to break the spell - Goblin Glider to mage + kick.

A lock's Drain Life would win in the long run. 7k is too much to melt down vs Drain lifes siphon rate. Beat the 10 seconds, and it's GG.

It's very strong. If a healer is getting any kind of focus and you Ray of Frost they will die. They better shift or range it. 29 would be nice, at 20 those other passives don't do anything. You pretty much wait around for Ray to come off CD. Frostbolt is pretty lack luster and Flurry is horrid. I could see a 29 mage soloing a surv. 20 is missing ice barrier, fingers of frost, brain freeze, and counterspell so GG.

Yeah, I mean I was basically assuming in the situation that your opponent doesn't leave the 40-yd range and doesn't use kick, stun, interrupt, incapacitate, etc.

Lock's Drain Life is totally absurd right now, lol. I play an Affliction Lock too that I actually do really well on talented for Malefic Grasp. If my Mage is up against a Warlock, I'll typically try to bait them into using Drain Life early and then quickly Counterspell... still won't give you a full Ray of Frost channel, but generally they're not going to be at full health when they Drain Life anyway, unless you have no clue what you're doing.

Everything you said is absolutely correct. I play level 29 characters, but do my best to stay away from the super OP cheese specs. Ice Barrier, Fingers, Brain Freeze and Counterspell make a MASSIVE difference.

You mad bro?

Yeah, Surv got ANOTHER damage buff, lol. Anyhow, here's the way I usually approach a fight vs. Survival on my Mage (who is Night Elf, btw)...

I'll try to bait them into using a charge of Throwing Axes, which my Ice Barrier absorbs. They'll usually either Harpoon to you, or use their second charge of Throwing Axes (most Survival Hunters are spazzes and just waste both charges immediately for ZOMG mongo dmg!!!) If they Harpoon, I'll freeze them and Blink away -- if they use Throwing Axes for the 2nd time, I'll do my best to Shadowmeld it to totally negate damage. From this point, the Hunter only has Flanking Strike and Raptor Strike spam (Lacerate if they're level 29... the majority are not). As long as I was able to Blink away after freeing/sheeping them, I'm able to channel Ray of Frost and it's GG. Again, BGs can be a mess with outside interference and whatnot, but generally speaking, I fair very well against the majority of Huntards I come up against... a good level 29 Survival Hunter that can Feign Death, use Exhilaration, Silence/Stun with Racials, knows when to use their abilities, can wreck anyone if they get the jump.

They need to just hurry up and give surv hunters titan's grip and divine shield. That will kill us off.

Imagine the Flanking Strike damage...

Isn't it amazing that with the addition of templates blizz has managed to make the game LESS balanced at endgame and low level?

Got to love that, their brilliant pvp fix just bolloxed the entire thing.

IMO frost is a one trick pony that's quite helpless between the cooldowns. An arcane mage who understands positioning is more terrifying. Not to speak of survs. The above applies to BG group fights, not 1:1, which rarely happens.
