Spirit Beast for low level hunters

Not gonna be easy taming this Spirit Beast :(

Tried last night and again quickly this morning and every Hunter and his dog is there. There were so many 110's in Duskwood I actually thought I was in Ashran for a moment!

Still, I am excited about the opportunity to have a Spirit Beast at this level. Now, if only they could make http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32517/loquenahak a scaling Spirit Beast. Man I used to love his roar in battle!

Fuckers everywhere. i don't understand why. Nor from where they get the info.
its just another damn fox with shitty star effect. Hell even same color already exists.
Should wait few mouth.

Hardly northrend ever going to scale down bellow 60. Even if it will, im not sure whether to be excited at the opportunity of getting one or be horrified by the fact that i would have to camp it for weeks again.

They should add more stable slots before adding new pets. im out of space with already existing pets at 20 lol.

@DeLindsay The tiger from Darkshore had Spiritwalk and Masterybuff, but I didnt have the HoT last time I checked.

The Ghost Saber pets aren't Spirit Beasts, they just have similar models.

Could be a nice area for 110 world pvp if there are a lot of them there

Spirit Beasts are a loosely-defined family of Ferocity pets in World of Warcraft. They are tamable by a Hunter with Exotic Beasts starting at level 69.

In addition to having special abilities defined by their pet class, Spirit Beasts share a pool of unique abilities. (Spell #93435) increases the Mastery of all party and raid members by 3,000 within 100 yards, Spirit Mend heals the current friendly target, and Spirit Walk puts the pet in stealth, doing 20% more damage on the first attack out of stealth.

I think those spells define what a spirit beast is, and what not. Idc if you have a bunny, if he has those spells he is a spirit beast.

ONLY Creatures with Spirit Mend that REQUIRE BM to Tame/Use are actual Spirit Beasts, any Creature with similar looks and a few of the Abilities (as well as the old Mastery Buff, which several Pet Families had) are categorized as "Lookalikes".

alright so Spiritmend = Spiritbeast?.

Pretty much, by definition.
Note the details bar, which shows their abilities [or lack of] and whether the pet family is an Exotic (BM only) family or not, which is one of (if not the main) details that distinguish one pet from another, or more precisely one pet family from another pet family. Pet families are also precisely what distinguishes this new fox (a spirit beast) from the fox family.

As for the example you shared earlier with the Ghost Saber, note that even wowhead has identified it as part of the cat family [tameable (Cat), under Quick Facts], and there's a difference between a cat family and a spirit beast family (and thus the relevance of this thread).

As for stuff like the boost-mastery spell from spirit beasts, pet abilities were removed or changed between patches and expansions, like Moths used to (until WoD patch 6.0.2) have a 10-sec-CD interrupt with a 4 second lockout (Serenity Dust) that was usable by all hunter specs, and since 6.0.2 that interrupt ability was replaced with a battle rez (dust of life) (and dust of life is an exotic ability, meaning only BM hunters can use it). Or wolves used to provide a +5% crit buff to the whole party/raid, and that was removed in Legion (with no replacement for wolves), among many other examples.

Hopefully that helped clarified some things. If there's any other questions, feel free to ask.

@handsomedgc Your tiger belongs to the cat family. It didn't have Spirit Walk, it had Prowl (same ability different name).
Exotic families have always been direct upgrades to non-exotics by having additional or more powerful abilities.
In the case of Cat vs Spirit Beast the difference is that Spirit Beasts have Spirit Mend where as Cats don't.

Also the wowhead page you quoted is significantly out of date. BM hunters can now tame exotic families from level 10. But the previous lowest level spirit beast (and thus the earliest level you could obtain one) was 74.

As @Vandiir pointed out, most of the unique pet family abilities have been removed, significantly narrowing down the viable pet choices. That's why you know someone is a clueless hunter if they're, for example, using a bat pet these days (because bats are one of the many pets with absolutely 0 family abilities).

It's actually sad, because there used to be so much customization from hunter pet choices before they removed 90% of the abilities and disabled dismiss pet in arena.

level 20 but you can get it all the way down to level 17 :) oh yeh camped it on a dead server ofc
my own server it gets camped on all the time.

So you don't only play with 20 hunters but you have one yourself :}] good to kno

So i just got it on my 98 BM at around 6AM EST - swapped over to a lowbie on another server and someone had just gotten it there. Just coincidence it spawned both places on/near the hour?

I got it at the main spot in the middle of raven hill cemetery, was kinda hoping to find it elsewhere. There's lots of possible spots if it can spawn in any of the "eyes" bushes. Trying to beat the perpetual camp of the main spots would be killer on a PvP server for a 19/29/etc...
