considering making a 60

so i was considering making a 60 mage and i was wondering if Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian - Item - World of Warcraft was actually grandfathered or if it just is like that since it is inside CoT?

Wha...? Old lvl 60 Naxxramas was removed(or the bosses atleast) and most of the Atiesh quests took part there. Sure seems a lot like grandfathering.

It is Gf'd, i wish my 60 mage could have had it

Naxxramas together with all the quests to it were deleted with the release of wrath of the lich king.
